No room available I made a reservation to accompany a conference that I was to attend at the same hotel several weeks in advance. The room was booked and paid for by the school district that I work for. I live several hours away, so I attempted to do the remote check-in that came in my email earlier the day of my reservation. The link would never work. So, I called the hotel at 8 pm when I was on my way, to confirm my reservation, and was told, yes, there was a room for me. When I arrived at 11 pm, there was not a room available. I was extremely tired after working that day and then traveling and needed to be at the conference early the next morning. I'm sure you can imagine that I was upset, especially after attempting to check in earlier. I also question, why wouldn't the hotel call me to let me know that my room had been given to someone else? I could have stopped when I was on the way. But no call was made or attempted. I was told by the employee at the desk that DoubleTree would secure a room for me at another hotel. That's fine, and the room that I was given was nice (actually nicer than the DoubleTree), but then I had to pack up my car again, and then drive to another hotel, check in, and finally get some sleep before my conference early the next morning. At no point did the manager come to the desk to discuss the situation with me, instead, leaving the young girl working the front desk to describe the hotel's policy etc. One question I have is, since the conference was being held in a busy college town, what if there would have been a sporting or cultural event that night and the hotels were full (which sometimes happens)? Where would I have gone? Would I have had to travel to potentially Kansas City? Or Topeka? This "policy" of the hotel and the lack of consideration that I was given when not even an attempt to contact me ahead of time was made means that I won't be staying at a Double Tree again.

Vey Disappointing Very very disappointing. The air conditioning unit in the first room we were in was so moldy smelling it caused us to ask to be moved. The next room was better , but not great. So looking forward to soaking in the hot tub/spa and had to look at a very unkept bick wall that needed painting not to mention the black mold in the corner of that wall. The breakfast room floor was entirely sticking. _ yuck. So un appetizing I would never recommend this place.

wonderful stay I had a lovely one-night stay at this hotel. Was in town for research. The room was comfortable and clean. Leandra, Kaeley and Josslyn were kind at the front desk and in the meal area. I liked the buffet and especially loved the kindness. I had a swimsuit and wish I'd had enough time to swim.

Beware- not a 4 star!!! If I could give zero I would. How this is rated 4 stars blows my mind. The hotel has a water and moisture problem. We reserved 2 rooms and both rooms had an overpowering smell of moldy, musky air. The only windows opened up into a common corridor so the curtains had to be closed at all times. The ceiling in the bathroom was so low that my husband’s head nearly hit it in the shower and the shower head was lower than the top of his head. The pool was the most awful looking green color- of course nobody was in it. We had friends stay in another room and they were too tired to find another place as they got in late. They left a bag on the floor and when they woke up, the bag and the contents were all wet in the morning. We were so concerned about the air quality and what we were breathing that we immediately asked for a refund and booked elsewhere in town.

Not great, very humid and musty I had never stayed at this hotel before. I saw the reviews and know that a lot of them are just disgruntled, so I went in with an open mind. Cons: The musty smell is legit. The pool is indoors out in the open in the lobby, so I'm sure that's contributing to it. They did have a dehumidifier on our floor, but it couldn't keep up. Our room was musty smelling even with blowing the fan constantly. It was also incredibly humid, so we tried to freeze ourselves out to combat it. The hotel pool was closed for maintenance the entire weekend, which was a bummer. They do have a hot tub, but we decided to pass on it. Also the hotel TV had netflix but no other streaming services, which seems easy enough to add. So bring your own roku or chromecast. This last one I get wasn't solely the hotel's fault, but the first floor reeked of pot. Pros: Water pressure and temp in the shower was fine. Towels were not soft but dried well. Bed was nice and firm. The room itself was clean. Hotel staff was friendly. Overall, it will not be a hotel I pick again, but I've stayed in worse.
