Throughly enjoyed our stay When we head down to Galveston it's normally only to cruise and we spend the night in nearby Webster. This time our travels took us to League City for a four night state convention that was held at this resort. We had a double queen bed balcony room facing the pool/marina. Room was a very good size with plenty of drawer/closet space. Had an easy chair plus a desk with chair. Lighting was good, room darkening shades. A/C and water pressure great. 2 chairs and a small table on the balcony. In room coffee maker with k cups, blow dryer, ironing board and iron. Bathroom was a bit small but there was a small vanity area in front of the closet. Housekeeping staff was spot on and very accommodating when I approached them in the hallway for additional coffee and towels. Beds comfortable but I would have preferred a bit softer pillows. Pool area: Apparently Thursday-Sunday are the party days and when the pool bar and outside cafe is open. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon the pool was jammed and the DJ had the music at ear splitting volume. However, the rest of the week the very large pool was fairly empty. Having the swim up bar open would have been nice as some of us conventioneers would have used it after our programs ended for the day. With the angle of the sun there were very few shady places and also a limited number of lounge chairs. Dining: Not sure when/if they actually open the bistro but it was closed for the entire duration of our stay. Yes, we had breakfasts and lunches provided at our convention but, short of our last night's banquet, our dinner choices were limited to going to Opus, their finer restaurant, or finding a neighboring restaurant in League City. IMHO, I would think that if they knew they had 400 attendees staying at the resort they might have opened the bistro as not many folks were willing to spend the bucks to dine at Opus. Opus: We bit the bullet and did dine there on Sunday night. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely!!!! In fact, husband and I thought the prices were reasonable for a better restaurant. I had the Opus pasta that was loaded with real crab, scallops, shrimp, and sun dried tomatoes in a scrumptious and very flavorful garlic/wine/lemon. Husband had the Veal New Orleans (I think that was the name) with roasted potatoes, green beans, a few wonderfully breaded veal cutlets topped in a bernaise sauce AND a 5 oz lobster tail. I think that entree was $40 but easily large enough portions for two to share. As for off site dining, there are tons of places nearby as well as the Kimah Boardwalk. Convention: I thought this was an EXCELLENT convention facility and want to give a shout out to their catering department as all our breakfast and lunch options were delicious and plentiful. OK- the coffee was terrible so hope they swtich brands. In all fairness, we did receive a group room discount rate that more than fit into my relatively frugal budget when looking for just a pre-cruise overnight stay. So, if you're looking for something a little nicer with a view and quiet location, I'd recommend this resort.

Great waterfront option in League City Spent 5 nights here visiting family. Having spent many nights at conference center hotels when working, South Shore was what I expected. Surprisingly large room. We had a king view room on the 8th floor. Beautiful view over the marina and Clear Lake as well as the pool area. Room was clean, comfortable. Bed was very good. Did not know it at the time, but a free buffet breakfast was included if you booked directly (normal price for 2 was $33.90). Excellent breakfast. Multiple options for fresh fruit, eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, toast/bagels every day. Alternating options: biscuits & gravy, breakfast burritos, etc. Very busy, the staff were non-stop but efficient and friendly. Free parking was a plus. Restaurant/bar options in hotel, we did not get the chance to check them out. Downsides... free Internet is horrid. I could barely pull up a web page. Best speed was 1.85Mbps, generally speed was below 1. Other hotels we stayed at on way to Texas and back were at a minimum 4Mbps. The Internet here is frustrating. You'd be better off not offering free Internet if you won't increase the speed enough to make it useful. I ended up using my phone as a hotspot for access. Bathroom was large with a walk-in shower. Towel rack was opposite corner of bathroom from shower, no hooks nearby. Tile can be slippery when wet. There is an 8" section of wall between shower and door frame, perfect for a double hook to hang towels. Last thing, they still slide paper copies of your invoice under the door on check out day. Pretty antiquated, wastes paper, requires labor. How about ask at checkin if a paper invoice is desired, otherwise email copy to guest (like every other hotel does). Overall. Basis value and location, I'd stay here any time I'm in League City.

By the Sea Brunch on Sunday was more than expected. Not a large selection but was was on offer was very delicious and hit the spot. Service was attentive and friendly. Live music was pleasant and set a nice mood. View of the pool and marina was an extra. Don’t miss a pleasant outing and bring the family

Go elsewhere. Shocked by my poor experience! The most simplest of amenities we’re missing. No microwave. No freezer. No room service. No vending machine as stated at ice machine. No book of amenities or local attraction. QR codes took you to a dead site without any information. The TV “hotel channel “ did not exist though it claimed there was one. You had to DRIVE to the gym. (Which I did- fitness center was nice). Very old bathtub and toilet. Walls were paper thin. Though census was very low, guests were placed next to my room. Not only could I hear their conversation at normal tone, I could hear them having intercourse. Lol _ I told my family it was if the resort is about to file bankruptcy so no money or effort was put into it. I could have had a MUCH better experience at the local Holiday Inn for nearly half the cost.
