SUCH A SPECIAL HIDDEN GEM After searching and reading hundred of reviews I choose the Kauai Inn to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I’m so glad I book this place! The minute we arrived we felt so relaxed and the vibe was amazing. They had live music on certain night, breakfast was perfect, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal and cereals, just what I would eat at home. The rooms are dated, but very clean, and I knew that from other reviews. As we spoke to the owner, he asked what brought us to Kauai from NYC, we told him we are celebrating our 30th anniversary, he excused himself and came back with a very nice bottle of wine for us! It was so kind of him and we really appreciated it! The staff is amazing and so helpful. They have a wonderful pool open until 10:00 pm, which I liked after a long hiking day. A microwave, fridge in room, they provided us with a beach umbrella and towels to use, but BEST of all is the views of the mountains behind as a backdrop. Stunning at all times of the day! I would 100% return! I totally would recommend this place to others.

I couldve gave more stars but had a rude encounter with an owner Friendly staff except 1 encounter, amenities are cool, chill atmosphere, old fashion rooms, but clean & has ac. The experience that made me want to give 2.5 stars was when I was invited to check out the live music & have some food from the cool & helpful front desk guy. I come out to check out the musician Sheldon who was amazing, and as I opened up the box of pizza laid out at the outdoor area, this big bald dude yells at me “hey buddy, this is not available for the public!” I apologize & say sorry. A couple hours pass by and the big bald dude sees me and the musician Sheldon having a nice conversation with each other. I thank Sheldon for his talents and entertainment, and the other dude thanks me for coming out. I say to him “it wouldve been nice to have pizza like everyone else. You blew up on me when I was trying to get a slice.” He sighs and apologizes saying he didnt mean to blow up on me. He blamed it on being in a bad mood because someone started a fire in the back of the hotel. He also told me he tries not to offer the food because people start expecting it. Right then I realized hes the owner of this place, or at least one of them. I mean is this how an owner should conduct himself & treat people like me who paid $975 for 3 nights? Also why have your front desk person invite me to enjoy music & have some food when I was just going to be rudely denied when everyone else was able to help themselves without any issues? Would love to hear a response & how I would be treated if I came back.

Very Serene Atmosphere A Hidden Gem in Lihue! It’s a great place to stay if you want a countryside vibe. You’ll be waking up with mountain view and fresh air! Very relaxing atmosphere, it’s a great place to distress and relax.. just sitting in the lanai, with chickens and cats just feels home! A well maintained grounds and very clean surroundings! We were lucky to see and be part of the luau night, it was very entertaining night! Everyone was very accommodating and welcoming, specially the front desk Izzy and the owner Phil!! Mahalo for inviting us to join Luau night! The 24 coffee (Kauai coffee) and the tea bags is a big big plus! It’s good to be waking up with the nice view, sound of roosters and fresh fruits and pastries they offer in the morning! Although i like the vintage vibe, just a suggestion to update the furnitures like the bed and lampshades. Also to add more pillows in the room, make it 4 instead of just two. All in all it was a great memorable stay! Will surely recommend and we’ll surely comeback to this hidden gem in Lihue, Kauai!

A Genuine Get-Away-From-It-All. We were searching for a place that was away from major noise and that offered a sense of seclusion, and we found it at The Kauai Inn. Restaurants and shops are but a short car ride away and ask the owner for suggestions, he's "area savvy", so take advantage. I had a particular challenge, and the staff was extremely compassionate and accomodating. It was MUCH appreciated. I'm especially fond of animals and am a volunteer at our local animal shelter so I especially enjoyed the chickens, ducks and horses that were in the area, and on the property. Neighbors were friendly. Breakfast at The Kauai Inn is offered daily and you won't find fresher fruit anywhere. If you want a gut-packing breakfast, may I suggest the Tip Top Motel (Google), otherwise, The Kauai Inn of fruit, sweet rolls and OJ hits the spot - and caffeine addicts, your vice is covered here with 24/7 coffee (and tea) Evenings are serene. So incredibly peaceful. It was hard to leave. Will post photos when edited up.

Fantastic family vacation place After spending a week here you feel like family! My family of four was on vacation and everyone at the hotel was extremely welcoming and helpful finding the best things to do. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. My kids had a great time with the mini golf course and tetherball in the large yard. My husband and I enjoyed dinner at one of the many tables under gorgeous palm trees. Beautifully maintained grounds and gorgeous plants. We have already been planning a large family vacation in the near future and will definitely stay here.
