Out of order in several ways! Friendly receptionist, clean room, great gym, nice views... but not a spa resort. We paid over £700 for two nights expecting jacuzzi, jets, showers, sauna, steam room... half of it is not working, grout has black mould, beds and lighting is not like in the pictures, food was like pub grub served in a canteen atmosphere. We had a few examples of poor customer service aswell. We wish we'd booked elsewhere. The absolute worst thing: one of the members told us it had been like it for months, so we could have been informed when we booked over the phone.

Find somewhere else We come here for our 11th Wedding anniversary, We were very excited to come here and booked the Dinner bed and breakfast package for £269. Check in okay? Took payment out the front which I thought was odd never done this in a hotel before, apart from a budget hotel at Premier Inn Holiday Inn. Room was ok, not great could have done with a facelift especially in the bathroom. It’s fine. We only plan to sleep in there. We went straight to the spa, which is really overpack with children, no chairs to put your stuff on, we went straight to the spa where it is over 18 only, that was ok steam room and sauna was lovely, hot tub wasn’t working nor was the hot beds. After the bar we went to the sports bar that was ok nothing to write about. The waitress couldn’t be bothered waiting there for five minutes while she was talking good selection of beer and cider. WiFi didn’t work in bar. After we got ready for our anniversary meal, we went to the champagne bar we shared a bottle of champagne outside, nothing to write about, we were left alone. King restaurant was our main problem with the place, on arrival, we will shown to our table our table, was whole week to pick a 2 courses with package, we opted for a starter and a main, we ordered bread to start that come out with our starters starters was okay again nothing special. My husband had pasta with prawns for his main it was absolutely tasteless and just tasted like bored past the water no flavour at all, I had the steak asked for medium rare bear in mind there’s a £12 supplement to have the steak It come out and the steak was smaller than the mushroom. when I cut into in to it was so overdone it was unbelievable. The chips looked like they only been been cooked for a few mins. Sent my steak back, while my husband eat alone, my 2nd steak come back and it was raw inside it was terrible, looked like the chef cook it for a minute on each side. we complain to the restaurant manager who did say she cook us another steak but this time I was on my second steak and then moment had past, My husband also sent the rest his back as it was absolute tasteless. Although she’s apologetic and took our drinks off the the bill she also said she would give us a refund back for the food and that we could go eat in sports bar if we wanted. All the sports bar does is picky foods burgers and chips, etc. just what you want on your anniversary meal.We decided to just have a few more drinks and talk to manger in the morning. Bed are really uncomfortable no sleep at all shower was okay. Breakfast was okay can’t complain about that. All nice and hot.. Hotel manager wasn’t very helpfully about our complaint in the morning just said he would email when he spoke to the lady. Got an email the next day saying we wasn’t offed a refund and how they delt with us was satisfactory. So on top of it all called a lier as well. Don’t waste your money here, there is much better hotels about that offer better deal and have much better customer service.

Lovely hotel would definitely return and recommend! We have had a lovely stay at Old Thorns for my husband’s birthday. The hotel is really very nice! The staff we encountered were very polite and friendly. I paid for the “birthday package” which I was told would include a card, chocolates, balloons and a teddy bear. Which in fairness it did, but not what I was expecting. The balloons were nice and the card (albeit it not addressed to the person), but the chocolates were 3 chocolate out of a box of celebrations and the teddy was a tiny little 2 inch bear. I was expecting a little box of chocolates and one of their beautiful Old Thorns bears they sell in the shop, so I wouldn’t have paid for this package had I know what it would look like. As it was a little underwhelming to say the least. Our room was nice and big and clean. We had a large bed and a sofa bed for our daughter and this worked out very well. The TV in our room didn’t work well, after 5 minutes of watching the picture was lost and you just had sound. Which was a little annoying when we wanted to watch a little tv before bed. We had wonderful food while we were there, room service one night which was nice. Then lunch in the sports bar and the portion sizes were great and the same goes for the ice cream we got from Oaties! Our dinner in the Kings restaurant was lovely albeit pricey. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Also the breakfast buffet was very good, however I didn’t rate the coffee. My husband had a massage during our stay and said this was very good. We used the swimming pool which has set times for children, but the times worked very well, 10-12 and 3-5, so perfect for a morning swim after breakfast had settled and then another swim in the afternoon before dinner. My husband also used the driving range while we were there which was good, accommodating and flexible with time slots. All in all a lovely hotel and we would definitely return! And recommend to others! My husband may well come back to have a round of golf next time.

Amazing Easter Break We treated my dad to a one-night golf and spa break for his 70th birthday, and it honestly couldn't have been better! From start to finish, the whole experience was amazing. We had two double rooms, and the team made sure they were next to each other, which was a lovely touch. Our stay included a two-course dinner, which happened to be on the first night of their new menu—and wow, it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely fantastic, probably the best meal we’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend the pork belly bites to start, and the lychee ice cream served with my mum’s panna cotta was next-level delicious! Every member of staff was so friendly and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. My dad and husband enjoyed two rounds of golf while my mum and I made the most of the spa and just relaxed. Already looking forward to our next stay!

5* spa day and lunch Beautiful spa day in the sunshine! The spa was so relaxing and we really enjoyed the wellness bed. The lunch was delicious and our waiter Dean was very polite and helpful _ We can't wait to come back and use the incredible facilities you have to offer.
