Heart of Eagle Rock - safe hotel This place is in the center of Eagle Rock. Nice base of operations if you're out this way. Stayed here for 5 days / 4 nights in a 2 queen bed room. Room was clean and orderly. Enough room for parking - hotel seemed full, but parking not an issue. Felt safe due to enclosed parking lot and lots of cameras. Small hotel pool if needed and was off to the side vs a pool in the center where you feel like the whole hotel is looking at you. Staff was polite. Small free breakfast room that is only open until 10a and closes promptly - can get crowded and has limited seating.

There are pros and cons ...... Upon arrival I found the girl at the reception to be unprofessional and rude (like pay now or get out)! The breakfast is basically plastic and sugar - poor quality. It would be better to offer less products and instead focus on better quality. The postives: exceptionally good cleaning (thanks to very friendly and professional cleaning staff). Good and convenient location, close to Occidental college, walking distance to cafés and restaurants. I have stayed at this property 5-6 times during the past ten years, it would have been nice to see an improvement in attitude towards the guests and, with the increase of the price, also a different approach to sustainablility.

Great location and facilities . Great motel. Clean and spacious room. Well maintained. Good laundry room power and coins available at reception. Breakfast room with cereal and fruit . Close to Chipolte and a Walgreens. Location was very easy for trips to Hollywood , LAX and Santa Monica . We also did a drive in movie at paramount which was fun although terrible food at the drive in. Staff at this motel were very friendly and helpful. It felt a safe area.

Does the Trick One of the main reasons why my family stayed here is because of all the rooms have a mini-fridge/freezer, which, as I found out while looking for hotels, is increasingly hard to find nowadays. The room with a queen bed also was plenty spacious to set up the Pack n Play for our baby, so that was convenient. They were also able to accommodate putting us on the ground floor, so that was another plus. Area is convenient as it is within a half hour drive or so (with traffic) of fun sites like Griffith Park, Dodger Stadium, Rose Bowl, LA Coliseum, and downtown LA. Without traffic some of those are even closer. They also have a hearty (but basic) continental breakfast included with the stay. That being said, there’s several delicious donut shops and Armenian bakeries (as well as many other tasty restaurants) within a short drive, so you may want to save your calories for those. While the hotel is on a main road, traffic only really seemed to be an issue during rush hour, so we didn’t have any issues with noise from the street at night. Staff were friendly and we never had an issue getting a parking spot in front of our room. Overall, it is a nice little place to stay.

Unpleasant place to stay I am not sure how this hotel got such a high rating. I can’t think of even one reason to recommend this hotel or ever even think of coming back. It is located on a major street, which means that sleeping before 1 am and after 5 am is not possible. On top of that, if anyone walks, takes a shower, goes to the bathroom, sneezes or talks in the surrounding rooms it sounds like if they are right next to you. When we entered the room, it smelled terribly. Beds, sheets and towels were clean, but nothing can erase the bad smell. I managed to convince myself, that I do have to take a shower, but there was a large cockroach conveniently resting in the bath tub, so I changed my mind. Staff was polite - they offered to move us to a different room, even though the new room was not very different . Breakfast was the usual, can’t complain about it. At the end I want to say, that I am not a picky person. As long as the hotel is clean and quiet - I don’t care about the rest. But this hotel was the below the minimum clean rate I can handle. I am so sorry I have nothing good to say.
