One and Done I'm not sure how this hotel has a 4 Star+ rating on so many travel sites as it isn't deserved. The front driveway of the hotel is extremely small and congested which means if you're driving in you may have to do some laps at check-in/check-out time. The front end staff was friendly and helpful but the valet/bell service is way too overwhelmed to offer the type of service a 4+ Star hotel should have. To be clear this isn't an employee issue, it's a poor staffing job by management. The lobby and lobby bar area are very nice. If it weren't for things like the pitbull hanging out by the elevators and the smell of pot it would be a 4+ Star area. Our room was decent, but certainly not on the level of a 4+ Star hotel. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were Dollar Store quality. Furnishings were sparse and dated as was the bathroom. The flat screen TV was nice and had a solid selection of channels. The room overall was 2.5-3 Stars at best. The workout room was nice and pretty well equipped, but the pool was about the size most people have in their backyard. Crazy small for a hotel of this size. The parking lot is also woefully small for a hotel the size of Renaissance and we had trouble finding a spot on our first night. The clearance is very low so if you have even a stock-height truck drive carefully in this garage. Every time we tried to exit the garage the ticket system wouldn't work so we had to wait for a member of the already way too busy front end staff to come let us out. We saw this happen to other guests as well. I guess $45 a night parking fee isn't enough to buy serviceable equipment. While I know that lodging establishments don't have much control over who books a room at their place, but unless a cannabis convention was being hosted at the Renaissance during our stay the law against smoking weed in a hotel weren't being enforced at all. Cheech and Chong would have been appalled. For us Renaissance Hotel was an absolute one and done.

Need a lot of improvements I had a 2 night stay here. Intention was to work most of the time and in the evening I would see a sibling who lives in L.A. Upon check in I was told my requested 1 pm for my Executive 1 BR Suite wasn't ready (It was around noon). Went to the bar for lunch. Called the front desk from the bar around 1 pm and was told nothing in the form of a suite was available. Finally around 2 pm I went back to the front desk to check and was told they could give me a similar suite but on a lower floor (I was promised the highest floor previously). Not a big deal, I thought. The 1 BR Executive suite on the 3rd floor wasn't what I had imagined it to be. It was much smaller than I thought it'd be. And there was a lot of stains on the sofa. I called to re-confirmed that the room that was given to me was definitely an Executive 1BR type suite. Different story was told to me when I first checked in. Next morning I started working in the room around 5 am in L.A. (operating on Eastern Standard Time). Wifi went out around 6:05. Called Service desk and was told nothing was wrong and they would reset my room's wifi. 30 more minutes and 2 additional calls later, Iw as told they have enlisted tech support and someone would call me back. Being that I was there to work during the day I definitely needed wifi. I proceeded to head downstairs to the front desk around 7 am and was told that the hotel was having problem with its internet and they have called a 3rd party to check. Long story short, wifi came back around 8:30 am local time. I had meetings scheduled on Zoom and google videos. When wifi came back the spped was so bad it couldn't support video calls. I asked if i could move hotel since I needed to work for the next 2 days and the front desk said they would refund me if I cose that route. I ended up staying and hoped for the best. The wifi speed eventually got better (after a few hours). Funny thing was, a different front desk person called me around 11 to let me know wifi was back up. Almost 2.5 hours after it was back up and running. The call itself was perculiar in that the agent said with no greeting "Just want to let you know the wifi is back up". No addressing me by my name nor an apology. Lovely. Morning of check out, went to the restaurant/bar area to order breakfast to bring back to the room. Got my order and found items missing, and had to return to the restaurant to correct the issue. Lastly, during check in I was given vouchers for breakfast worth a certain amount due to my status, maybe. Was told the value would also cover gratuity. Needless to say, it did not when I checked and found the gratuity on my room folio. Can the management do a better job in training the staff? Anyway, not really a good experience for a 48 hour stay.

Rip off parking with no spots and they took my DoorDash! The room itself was not the problem. We got there late on a Friday, the front desk staff was rude, the room was hot and there was absolutely NO parking spaces after paying $45 for parking. I finally called up to the front desk after circling the garage for 20 minutes with no luck, they told me I could park in a handicap or valet spot, there were none open. I was told to park wherever I can fit, finally squeezed into a too tight space in their maintenance area. On top of that, I tried to have DoorDash delivered, door dash said it was delivered and had a pic and the front desk claims they received nothing.

Front Desk Couldn’t Care Less Cheap and quick option for LAX. But man, the front desk service was probably one of the most don’t care attitude I’ve seen from the Marriott chain. “Our printer is out of ink. Nope. No other options”. And that’s coming from the manager doing the training so you can see where it comes from. Room is what you paid for, cooler doesn’t cool. Pay a little more a stay at the Westin down the street.
