Air Conditioning not working; no bell service, run down facility This hotel was chosen for its location near to a business meeting I was attending. There was a loading zone to park my car temporarily, but no bell service and nobody to help with luggage. The front desk had fans going since the AC was not working and the attendant pointed to a cart nearby the reception counter and said I could use that to take my bags from my car up to my room. The room I was assigned had a broken AC unit, and the saving grace for the entire stay was that the young woman on duty at reception immediately upgraded my room to a space where she knew the AC unit was working. It could have been a much more unpleasant experience without her helpfulness. I needed to find a nearby place for dinner (there are a few choices), but the area was uncomfortable to walk in (homeless people asleep on the sidewalk; someone in a building across the street dropping things down on passersby. Fortunately there is a place two doors away (D'Vine Lounge & Bar) that has good food that I could take back to my room.

Excited to see the renovations This is an old boutique hotel. There was exposed wiring, old pipes and overall disrepair but major renovations are in the works. I look forward to seeing how this downtrodden old building can be transformed because the location is wonderful. There are so many places to eat in the neighborhood and walking distance to the Staples Center. The place has a lot of potential.

Definitely not for the business (or any) traveler Stayed here for a last minute business trip as my usual hotel (Westin) was booked. Pros: it's close to the Staples Center, the front desk clerk was helpful Cons: Absolutely everything else Older hotel with exposed wiring; window a/c units; no outlets to plug anything in. Everything was dingy and cracked. Bathroom is less than 4x5 feet, the shower itself is only 18 inches wide by 4 long. Had to shower standing sideways (and I'm 5'3" and 120lbs). Feels and looks like a "live-in" hotel (or a rent by the hour kind of place), not a business or vacation traveler. Wi-Fi kept dropping and was spotty. No amenities. No restaurant/bar onsite, although some within walking distance (during the day only- nighttime would not be recommended). I've stayed in some sketchy hotels before, but this would be rated even below a Motel 6 type place. Would not recommend to anyone, and definitely not at their price point, which is typical DTLA rates of $199+.

Very good The thing I loved most was the location. It was very accessible and the hotel itself was really good, maybe just a bit too old. Nice staff, clean and comfortable rooms and good food. Good choice considering the price.

Pleasantly surprised I was late in booking a hotel coming to a conference in Los Angeles and when I looked at the review I must admit that I felt dubious about making a reservation. I arrived guite a bit before the conference, but they allowed me to leave my bags while I headed to the convention center. It's location was excellent and I felt comfortable. When entering my room I was relieved. It was clean, had a large closet, and the bathroom was nice for a small room. My bed was very comfortable and my room was quiet and dark enough to sleep without distraction. I was pretty far from the elevator so that helped. I learned all of the names of the staff in 2 days and they were all excellent. If you stay in 5 star luxury hotels don't come here expecting that from an older property. You come to an older property knowing that your shower might be extremely narrow, or that your desk lamp may or may not work. If you are a seasoned traveler that does not expect nor want to be hand-served peeled grapes this hotel will be perfect for you unless you spend hours in hotel rooms. My room was a bit small, but I've had much smaller. I really enjoyed my stay. The staff made this hotel for me. You can't always go by negative reviews. It's all a matter of perspective of the traveler. For the price in LA people need to have realistic expectations.
