This place is not as good as it used to be. The maid Sandra didn't clean out the coffee pot from the previous guests use so I found half a pot of stall coffee and a used coffee pod in the filter, there were other people hairs on the counters and sinks, the chairs and table on our balcony were covered in spilled coffee and other stains, and there were a few cobwebs in between the slats of the balconies railing. Sandra never came to our room to empty the trash, sweep, give us fresh towels, give us a new roll of toilet paper, or new coffee supplies for our in room coffee port. The windows were very dirty and to see the lake view we had to open the window and let the cold air into our room, there were stains on the carpet, missing tile on the counter, loose tiles on the window ledge, there was a hole above our tub with a plastic pipe showing, our toilet kept running so we had to keep taking the tank lid off and fixing it. There is only one elevator for the guests and staff to use and the staff act like the guests shouldn't be using it, the bike rack blocks half of the sidewalk so you have to walk in the grass to get to the entrance as long as it's not being blocked by the numerous carts of dirty bed linens, dirty towels, and bags of garbage one cart with dirty towels stayed on the sidewalk our entire trip of four days. Bring your own items for breakfast or be prepared to spend $10-$30 at the nearby restaurants for it since the hotel doesn't offer breakfast like it used to.

Enjoyed our stay. Clean and roomy. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Lots of room! We were on the 4th floor. It was very clean, and had lots of room on the bathroom counter for several people's toiletries. Best mattress ever in a hotel, not one of those cheap soft ones. Decorated very nicely, with some great artwork on the walls. Very classy looking lobby. Our beds were separated by a closet and the bathroom, so we each had privacy, our own TV's, and quiet from our traveling partner's snoring...lol. We would stay here again. I just want to mention that this was after Labor Day, and it was very quiet because of that. However, during peak season, any hotel in Mackinaw City has the possibility of being noisy. You can buy discounted Ferry tickets at the front desk, and there is a free shuttle that will take you to the Ferry docks. They have no breakfast, but we just brought bagels and spreads for breakfast. They have a nice counter for kitchen type things. Balconies are private, with a wall in between which was nice. Not all the hotels there have that.

Do not stay here! Mackinaw Beach & Bay is in definite decline. The website describes a bar and a restaurant, both of which no longer exist. It was worn and dirty. The staff was doing their best with the resources that were provided, but the experience was underwhelming. Could not return or recommend.

Nasty finds upon checking in Filthy. Found someone else’s underwear on the floor. Truly disgusting and manager didn’t care. Could barely sleep because of the thoughts. Manager refused refunding 2nd nights stay. Simply nasty hotel. Go across the bridge, several nicer hotels there

Would not stay here again The beds were comfortable. That is all I can recommend. Maybe it's because it was getting to the end of the season or because it appears bus tours stop here. Thus is not a quiet hotel. Do not stay on the first floor or near the elevator. Other guests were noisy. Staff seemed busy talking w regulars.
