Old World Charm in Macon Quaint Antebellum hotel with authentic olde worldy feel. Rooms were very comfortable, plumbing and bathrooms basic but hey it´s an old hotel. Staff were amazingly friendly. Parking was good and readily available. Breakfast on the porch was a nice touch. Breakfast on Sunday was a bit hit and miss but the poor lady was on her own and did her best so no issues.

True southern charm and hospitality Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The happy hour sitting out on the front porch was so delightful, and we enjoyed chatting with the other guests. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast excellent. Thank you to everyone who helped us get our vacation off on a great start.

Southern Hospitality Made Manifest In both its name and its presentation, the 1842 Inn is emblematic of another time, one of grace and hospitality and beauty. While the antebellum period itself did not always live up to its moonlight-and-magnolias image, the 1842 Inn is a dream of Southern hospitality and gracious living brought into reality. Housed in the historic home of Mayor John Gresham, the Inn itself is a feast for all of the senses. The columned facade is imposing yet inviting, and the period decorations inside creative a marvelous atmosphere of conviviality and comfort. The numerous parlors provide the perfect spaces for either social interaction or quiet contemplation, and all are decorated to create a strong sense of livable, engaging pleasure. It is a supreme treat to sit in the parlor on a rich leather loveseat, either chatting with fellow guests or enjoying the Inn's signature Mint Julep. For all of the plush and homey charm of the parlors, one would be remiss in spending too much time in one's room, but the various bedrooms at the 1842 Inn are a treat in and of themselves. Each is uniquely decorated and appointed and provides all of the amenities of a standard hotel room but with greater beauty and individuality. We have been hosted at the 1842 Inn several times over the past decade, including during our honeymoon. On this trip, my wife and I stayed in the John Gresham Room. The bed was very comfortable, with plenty of pillows and blankets. The temperature was easy to control thanks to both central heating and air and a ceiling fan. The linens were delightful and extraordinarily soft. The bathroom was scrubbed and sparking, with plenty of hot water. The Beakman bath products were a great touch. The rooms are also very quiet and can become an oasis of solitude, if so desired. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and there were many options available. I almost wish that the 1842 Inn had its own restaurant, so that we could eat in more often! For all of the beauty of its objects, however, it is the people who make the 1842 so special. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm smile and a helping hand, and all of the staff were eager to please, with suggestions for places to dine or to offer a fresh cup of coffee. I would especially like to highlight Gloria (front desk), Joanne, Gloria (breakfast), EJ, and George, who were a delight in every way. For anyone looking for the pinnacle of Southern hospitality, the epitome of what a bed and breakfast ought to be, and the friendliest place in Macon, look no further than the 1842 Inn, a treasure from a bygone age.

Outstanding stay and service We loved everything about our stay here. The inn is beautiful with multiple parlors, two covered porches, and a lovely courtyard- plenty of places for our family to get together and hang out. They serve delicious complimentary hors d'oeuvres in the evening and they have the best breakfast options of any place I've stayed. The bacon in particular was cooked just right. We were all pleased with the comfort of the beds and both rooms were very clean. We did not hear any noise coming from any other guest rooms. The service is also outstanding- Gloria and JoAnn went out of their way to take care of us; we had such a nice time chatting with JoAnn that we were reluctant to leave on Sunday morning. We are already planning another family visit for the fall.

Historical Inn Stayed one night on our trip north. The Inn is all that you see. High ceilings , antique furnishings, and southern hospitality. The room we had was on the smaller size, but it was what we expected. Breakfast was ready for us at the time and place.
