READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BOOK! Read the other reviews in the last 6 months. Scores of bad ones and only two good ones. Ask yourself why? This formerly grand hotel has fallen upon bad management that hides their inadequacies by continually blaming COVID. The welcome at check-in was non-existent to underwhelming (can't blame COVID). The desk person was obviously lacking training in how to use the computer system. I was simply given a key with room number (in another building down the street) and told "good night." (Can't blame COVID). No bell staff to assist. No restaurant service, or any food whatsoever, available. COVID was the excuse. Meanwhile, a private group used the restaurant for breakfast but all we got for our $800+ room was a granola bar. Can't blame COVID if they CHOOSE to serve a travel group but not hotel guests. In Vermont COVID protocols were relaxed two months before our visit as the state has the highest vaccination rate in the US. The lack of food service in the hotel was exacerbated by the fact that most restaurants in town were also closed or were overwhelmed because not many were open.

Disappointing We are giving it a 1 only because you have to have some rating. The place is living on its laurals. We booked a room well in advance and received a small room along side the driveway. Since the staff all seemed to be in training, asking for a room change was not an option. While the place is still beautiful the staff left a lot to be desired. First, there was no dining services for lunch or dinner. Secord, when we went for breakfast the next day, all the tables were wet. The host almost knocked me down coming up the steps while I was coming down with my knee brace on. The waitstaff women in the dining room had no personality and there was no greeting. When asked about the wet tables she said "sit over there" pointing to another table. We had picked up coffee at the des and had our paper cups and she said "do you want coffee or are you going to drink that". We left and went out for breakfast elsewhere. The only person who was nice was an older woman who helped up retrieve a package from our room. She also commented that the help needed a lot of training. The grounds crew was also nice and friendly. We will not go back.

This hotel used to be lovely ! We went back after 15 years to celebrate a special birthday. Very disappointed with the hotel. First , no housekeeping service. We were never told ahead of time. Disgusting to look at garbage and wet towels piling up in the room. No one answers the phone at the front desk .. I made 4 calls for hangers and towels. The restaurant is closed Tuesday and Wednesday .. no warning about that. We seemed to be charged an extra fee for golf package instead of the fee we were quoted in booking. We called the general manager and left a message .. have not received a call back. The indoor pool area smells of chemicals .. so bad it’s hard to last in there for more than a minute. Go elsewhere ! Wish we knew ahead of time.

Never again When I stayed here 20+ years ago, this was a 5 star hotel. It is a mere shadow of that today. Rooms are spacious and well appointed but you have to ask for a coffee pot. Don’t try calling the front desk or guest services. They never answer. You have to get your own ice as there is no one to call to get it for you. Marsh Tavern was excellent for dinner on Monday. Breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday is a bag which is picked up at the front desk. No restaurant. In July! Place is in serious need of paint, upkeep and maintenance. Very disappointed. Place is very low rated when it should, and was, #1.
