Not great for families! We were super excited to stay at this resort with our kids. Although they have a fun slide and a big pool (albeit freezing cold) there are zero hot tubs on the property that kids below 18 are allowed in. On of our favorite things to do is after dinner sitting in the hot tub and relaxing before bed. It’s a bummer we can’t do this hear. It seems like they are catering to younger adults at this resort. Techno is blaring around the pool deck. Definitely not what we were hoping for. Probably won’t stay here in the future. All that being said the grounds are clean, nice and new feeling.

Disappointed, Hokupa'a Tower is overrated This resort is decent, nothing special. I stayed at the much heralded Hokupa'a tower at an ocean front room during our "baby-moon" in mid August 2021. The Lanai ("special" area for Hokupa'a tower people only) had the same view as my room (a few levels below), the free breakfast there was a below average continental breakfast. I doubt the eggs were real, the pastries were not good, but the limited fruit was ok. The infinity pool at the Lanai was about the size of my bathtub back home. There are plenty of kids/family in the Lanai, especially in the morning as people gear up with below average food to start their days. Don't book this place based on the pictures and reviews you see online about "Lanai Access" and how it is romanticized. This was disappointing to the say the least. The room was ok. It was clean (like all Marriott properties), nice bathroom (except the toilet didn't have it own door, common at Westin/W). Good for shaving, shower was excellent, etc. The bed was comfortable and there were other seats and a table. I expected more out of the room, it appeared a little worn out considering this was a newly renovated tower. The price paid for this room did not live up to what was received. I'm seriously reconsidering my loyalty to Marriott properties as this is the second time in a year I've been disappointed by them. Service at the hotel wasn't very good. We arrived "late" (by Maui standards 9pm is late) on a Monday. Asked about room service (discontinued) and the front desk / concierge were not helpful finding food. Luckily Yoshi who brought up our luggage was super helpful and I was able to get my pregnant wife food for dinner. Thank you! He also had some other good recommendations in general - he was easily the best interaction I had at the hotel. Everyone else seemed uninterested in customer service. I understand it's a busy time, but the amount of money being spent at this hotel necessitates a somewhat decent level of customer service - no? I guess people are willing to pay for anything these days and it appears Westin is ok to just make that money and keep it moving. Activities, nearby restaurants and nearby beaches kept us busy and happy during our stay - not the resort. The beach in front of the hotel is crowded, small and full of commercial boats. The restaurants at the hotel were not up to our standards. We barely used the pool since it was so crowded. We moved over to an apartment in Kihei and then Kauai for the remainder of our stay on the islands and had a great time. This reminded me why I've recently began avoiding resorts and stick with apartment rentals... What exactly are we paying for if it's not impeccable service? Why should I continue paying 3 to 4 times the amount I would pay at an apartment rental with similar interior and easier to get in and out? Your customers come for that service experience, if anything, that has to be renovated otherwise you will continue to lose market share. Hope this helps!

Not just for kids crafts Two seniors truly enjoyed the crafts lead by Michele in the kids room!!!! We had a blast doing both ceramics and tie dye! Michele was able to accommodate pre schoolers through adults in both sessions we had! Our inner children came out and we had a blast! Can’t wait until we comeback next year and try some different activities!!!!!

Wonderful experience! We booked this trip in 2019 to celebrate our 10 year anniversary but eventually ended up rebooking and adding our daughters to come along with us, after covid. The Lanai is definitely worth it, if not just to meet Gia. Gia will now be a life long friend, she took time out of her own busy schedule to teach us her hawaiian culture and even brought her own tea leaves to teach us how to make a Lei. We traveled to another island, during our stay, and stayed at another competitive hotel....but it was nothing compared to the customer service here. The starbucks line may be long, but it is double back in the mainland. When you realize how over worked the employees are, due to staffing vacancies, but yet do not ever complain and are still so willing to make your trip the best trip....it means the world and should not go unnoticed... The service at this hotel is top notch and sadly unappreciated at times. Side note...we are Titanium Elite with Ambassador status, we were only upgraded to 3rd floor in the Hokupa'a room facing the parking lot.....yes the garbage truck in the mornings could be annoying but you can't convince me any view from that tower is bad. Thank you for making our trip so much fun!

Paradise but $$$$$ This is a great resort but expect to pay! Daily resort fee plus parking. Maybe this is standard for Hawaii. I wouldn’t know, it’s my first time. The front desk person was helpful upon check in by suggesting we get our pool towels that afternoon rather than waiting until the morning when it could be an HOUR long wait! For towels! However the check-out experience was not as delightful as we were not allowed a one hour later check out even though we are Titanium Elite members of Marriott Bonvoy! Also the experience with the concierges was less than stellar. I felt like they were doing me a favor & they didn’t seem to know much about certain things. The dining options at the hotel were less than stellar. The grab & go market was limited in its options. The only other breakfast option was a $32 prix fixe menu. We went during COVID and were told that masks were mandatory in indoor places. Too many people were walking around without masks including in elevators. I wish the staff spent more time policing that than asking my young looking 19 year old whether she was old enough to be in the adult pool. Also the water slide was inexplicably closed when we tried to use it. The lobby is open to the outdoors where there is a waterfall, a koi pond and even flamingos (though I wonder how kind that is to the birds). They offered a free luau show on Saturday and various other cultural offerings such as lei making during the week.
