Good bang for the buck! We stayed here for spring break last April and have a very good time. Everything was close and never had to walk long distances to get anywhere. We stayed in the tower while the elevator wait times was trying at times. The food was excellent with many different options, we didn’t realize that there was another buffet till the second last day. We didn’t get into any a Al carte as they was booked. Beach was amazing, water was rough but fun to play in. My boys always found something to do there. The water slides were a nice perk. We stayed outta the small adults only pools as the water looked really milky everyday. The other pools was fine. Check in was a little stressful as we was pulled to a side room and told to leave our bags and stuff right in the open and anyone can access them. My father and his girlfriend and they had a great time. We upgraded to a family room which wasn’t worth the upgrade. The views from rooms in the towers was the best views I ever had in Mexico! We would return to this resort in future if the price was around what we payed!

Excellent trip The Riu in Mazatlan Mexico was overall a great experience. The rooms, ours was a family suite, were well kept and spacious. The food was fairly standard for a Riu, but overall it was good. Staff were extremely accommodating and made the experience all that much better. If I found myself in Mazatlan again, I'd seriously consider returning.

Best Resort in Mazatlan Everyone was super friendly. Love that they have the pools separated. While we were there the had a night show, it was really nice. Having open bar, buffet style restaurant was a big plus. The only thing I didn’t like was that the elevator rakes for ever and the old rooms are extremely hot.

I was a victim of gender violence and physical attacks at Riu Emerald Bay I was a victim of gender violence and physical attacks at Riu Emerald Bay, along with my family. I was hanged by hotel staff for no reason. Events that occurred in the early morning of July 5, 2024, at approximately 1:25 am. I was talking to the night manager of the hotel when an employee named Martín began to choke me. For a few seconds I couldn't see or hear anything. My brother asked him to let me go and he also began to be attacked by the staff. He was handcuffed and beaten. I was not the only woman attacked, my cousin was also hit, thrown to the floor and kicked. She was trying to help. My other cousin, a young man of only 20 years old, was hit in the face and mouth while being taken to the exit. I felt fear and confusion, how could it be possible for them to physically attack their guests and even more so being women, since no matter how much strength I had, I couldn't get this man off of me and prevent him from continuing to hang me. This is a crime and unfortunately these facts speak for the entire hotel by allowing its staff to act in this way, it is not a safe place, it does not offer hospitality and its staff is aggressive, violent and misogynistic.

Wonderful for special celebration We booked Riu Emerald Bay for 10 days to celebrated 60th birthday and received a bottle of champagne, a very nice touch. Stayed in the newer building and thought the room was very satisfactory: clean, well stocked and well attended by the cleaning staff. Dial 9 and ask for new bottles of water after you use up the bottles in the fridge. The buildings were kept very clean and our room was away from the loud Bandas music on the beach. This beach was clean and separated from the resort's property. Vendors were cordoned off from the lounges and they were not intrusive. Since the majority of guests were congregated around the pool, there were tons of lounges available on the beach. Note: Don't leave your towels unattended as ours were taken, and luckily for us, we got the replacement without being charged. We worked out at the gym early because it would get crowded and there were not enough lighter waits available. Then we would take yoga, zumba and aquatic classes. Lesley and the other activity staff were wonderful, so I would highly recommend their activities. Entertainment was hit or miss, with more Banda music, which we didn't enjoy. We loved some international dances and karaoke. The disco club opened @11pm and we went there one night to celebrate the birthday. The 4 stars are mainly for dining. The buffet food was good with many options but some of the food was not fresh, with meat and fish being overcooked and dry. We had to make a reservation to Mexican and Asian restaurants, which was easy to do via the app. Surprisingly, the Mexican restaurant had the worst main dishes, thus we don't recommend it. On the other hand, Bamboo, Asian food, was our favorite place for dining. Overall, we would recommend this resort. Now that we know what food to avoid, we would stay there again. We would like to thank Lesly and activity staff; waiters: Manuel, Miguel, Oropeza; Juan, who cooked some food outside and bartender Luis for making our stay enjoyable.
