Pursuing the Basque Challenge this month I would rate them a five except they don't have an elevator at the annex where we stayed. It's the Carson Valley Motor lodge. The room was large, very quiet and quite clean. The Inn was full so we stayed here, within walking distance if you do not mind a longer walk and the weather is good. You must check in at the Carson Valley Inn. The price was right, and no dumb resort fee or parking charges; we see that way too often now. And hey, we just love it when we find two, yes two, luggage racks for our bags. Thanks to management for that bit of common sense. My ABC: Agua-hot; Bed-very good; Cleanliness-Excellent; end result is we would go back here. Rooms toward the back are away from the highway.

Well appointed and clean room We were in town to visit family and to attend the balloon festival. We had previously gambled here and ate at Katie's but this was our first stay. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. The staff at check in were friendly. We were on the third floor and our room was well appointed and roomy. We booked a king room. The bed and pillows and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and the shower stall was large. The water pressure was okay, I heard it was better on the lower floors. The room was quiet, the hotel was busy but we rarely heard noise from the other rooms. There was a mini fridge and plenty of plugs for our various electronic devices. The casino floor is nice. Not too smokey, lots of good slots and there is live music on the weekends. We will definitely be at the casino again for a future trip and we are likely to stay here again.

Casino and Restaurant are great but seep somewhere else. Casino is nice with a great restaurant. Hotel is a different story. We were put in the 2nd floor of the motor lodge across the property, through the parking lot and RV park…which we weren’t expecting, I thought we booked a hotel in the casino…. so we dragged our luggage into the registration with us only to have to haul it back to the car and drive to our room. We wanted to be able to get up and go down for breakfast in the hotel restaurant but once we got in the car to drive back over we just left the property. Normally when we stay at a casino we gamble in the morning but no go here. The room was ok for a quick overnight, think Motel 6. The bedding needs upgrading for $200 night.

Better than staying at Lake Tahoe! We planned a last minute trip to Lake Tahoe for the July 4th long weekend and, as Tahoe hotels were too expensive or too shabby, chose this place. Glad we did. The hotel is in a fairly old building and looks underwhelming in the pictures. But inside is remodeled and the management has got it right. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Even the bathroom is more spacious and well laid out than the ones in 3 star hotels. The air conditioning is central and doesn't sound like an Amtrak train entering a tunnel in the middle of the night. Some have complained about noise from other rooms but was not an issue for us. Casino was right below our floor but not a ding from there. Occassionally we could hear if people talked outside our window, in the parking lot. Maybe they can soundproof the windows better? The restaurant has old style leather sofas, serves good food at very reasonable prices. Omlette coffee and toast for two cost just $30. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a room upgrade just for asking nicely. There was an issue with billing but took a phone call lasting less than a minute to fix it. The place is about 30 minute drive from Heavenly resort but the route is pretty scenic. On the way back to the Bay area we took the 88 route up to Stockton, another scenic experience.
