Great Getaway! We had a perfect 3 days at the Shem Creek Inn. Our room facing Shem Creek was wonderful - comfortable bed, clean, well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool deck was so relaxing and a great place to watch the boats, dolphin, pelicans and people. The walkability to several restaurants and the boardwalk were a bonus. We will definitely return.

High price and no service This place is very expensive and delivers minimal service. - No daily housekeeping. You make your own bed, fetch your own clean towels, empty your own trash, fetch your own toiletries. No bottle of water in the room. When you pay hundreds of dollars a night for a room, you expect better. - Breakfast is dismal. No fresh bread. No fresh fruit. No cheese. Mainly it's the cheapest possible, factory-made, cellophane-wrapped high-calorie junk food. There's yogurt and factory-packaged hard-boiled eggs, but that is about all the healthy-eating department. Breakfast room has only four small tables and a blaring television, so you fetch breakfast and go to your room, and if you want a coffee refill you have to go back to the breakfast room to get it. - This place charges a resort fee on top of high room rate. Then you pay 13% tax on both the high room rate and the resort fee. Not clear why they charge a resort fee - it's basically a motel room with no services. - The receptionist's very first words to us when we arrived were: "Credit card and ID, please!" No words of welcome. Just pay your money. That about summarizes their attitude.

Glad we stayed here instead of in the downtown area of Charleston. Much more scenic We stayed three nights here and was pleasantly pleased. Our room was on the second floor and facing the creek. The other side faces the swamp area. Even though it was hot we enjoyed sitting on the balcony with our adult beverages watching boats, kayakers and paddlers on the creek. Also, there are several bars and restaurants on both sides of the creek that were very busy considering it was a weekday. Hurricane Helene stayed west of us and we enjoyed our visit. The desk managers, Joseph and Ed were great and helped us with any questions and recommendations we needed. The room was very clean and we would stay there again. Only we would request a top floor (3rd) because whoever was in the room above was was walking back and forth and moving chairs a lot. There is some covered parking on the first floor and it is first come first served. And the elevator is close to those spots.

Week days on the creek. The view from the balcony overlooking Shem Creek is wonderful. Being on the boardwalk to watch the boats and the sunsets is the reason we have stayed here. Friendly staff and great service. Enjoy talking to people when walking on the boardwalk.

Good Vibes Great location. Great vibe. Great pool deck. Nice size rooms. Not quiet inside or out though, so just know that. Beautiful Shem Creek Park beside hotel where you can walk the boardwalk and watch the sunset. They do not have housekeeping, but have any thing you need in the lobby. Also they have no laundry facilities, which they really need.
