DoubleTree by Hilton Mt. Vernon

Great service, paper thin walls Decent hotel, but not remarkable. The lobby is nice and seems refreshed. The first room I went to had the smell of cigarette smoke and mildew. I went to the front desk and they apologized, changed my room and handed me two warm cookies. The second room was better. However the walls are very thin, so much so that I thought people were in my room. I could hear full on conversations coming from the rooms next to me. Luckily not during the time I was sleeping. Also there were little things that left me wondering how they maintained the hotel. For instance the lights on the elevator wouldn't come on when pressed. The elevator worked and went to the right floor, but the lights wouldn't come on. As a Diamond I got free breakfast, but it was rather underwhelming. It was convenient, but I was expecting be able to order something off a menu. It was just a buffet and no so different from a limited service hotel like a Hampton Inn. The servers were nice and all, but just underwhelmed by buffet food. Every staff I ran into was very kind and courteous, so they have that going for them.

Friendly Staff, Old, Dirty :( This hotel is conveniently located next to the highway and several restaurants, so it's a great choice of you are passing through town. Also, the staff was very courteous and accommodating. However, we had to change rooms as soon as we arrived because the wall beneath the window in the first room we checked into was falling apart. There was obvious water damage and the plastic trim along the bottom of the wall had completely peeled back revealing drywall and evidence of black mold. The carpet was also very dirty. We let the host at the desk know about the issue, and we were moved to the room. The next room that we removed to had the same issue, although not as severe. But the rooms just aren't clean and are very old. There was a vent in the shower that was filthy, it looked as if it had never been touched. There is also a musty smell in the rooms. But we were tired and did not want to move rooms again or change hotels, so we just got some supplies and cleaned the room ourselves. This hotel just really needs its rooms renovated, and for proper cleaning measures to be put in place for the health and safety of their guests. I did express my displeasure to the person who text us to see how our stay was going after we checked in, but I did not hear anything back from them. We were charged full price, and no discount was made or accommodation given for our inconven ience or for the condition of the rooms.

This is a lovely hotel. Very clean and accommodating. This is a lovely hotel. The customer service was outstanding and the front desk staff was attentive to the needs of traveling with our elderly handicapped mother. The room was very clean and comfortable. After driving all day it was welcoming to have a restaurant in the building to get dinner and breakfast. Both food servers were excellent. The entire staff was outstanding both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Thank you!

Okay Stayed here for work. Front desk staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The woman who checked me in, gave me instructions on how to open my room door since I was staying on the fifth floor. Apparently, they have a lot of issues with those doors. Hallways were very dark and it's a little disconcerting. Room was...okay. It needs a good cleaning. I found stray hairs several places and the vent in the shower has NEVER been cleaned. The carpet didn't feel very clean either. My room was quiet, but I faced the front parking lot. I heard other coworkers complaining about the highway noise from their rooms. Housekeeping may have begun too soon. A couple of us, who hadn't checked out, were going back up to our rooms during a break in our conference only to find that the rooms had already been stripped of linens, etc. We still had a couple hours before check-out. Food was good, both in the restaurant and the lunch buffet we had during our meeting.

Great nights sleep in a comfortable environment. The hotel lobby and guest services reception was very welcoming as was the host that assisted me. The gentleman had gracious outwardly welcoming personality. He was accommodating when I asked for a second Chocolate Chip cookie and answered all my question concerning and evening meal. The room had all the accoutrements one would expect of aDouble Tree Hilton Hotel room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room and bathroom were perfectly clean. One could not ask for more.
