Dayton House 2021 Dayton House We stayed at the Dayton House for a week in July because of a a stay-to-play arrangement for a local baseball tournament. For our stay, we booked the Oceanfront King Suite. First, the rooms do not look like the glamour shots on the website. They claim to have been renovated recently, but honestly I’d say that for our room, that meant fresh paint and that was about it. There were small holes in the walls and the whole interior was just old and dated. The fridge was full sized and worked fine but there was a broken shelf so we had to watch out for that. If you have more than 2 people, then bring some kitchen utensils - there’s really just a hodge podge of a few things to barely get by. The coffee maker was one of the tiny ones and I had to jiggle the on/off switch repeatedly to get it to work every time. The bathroom was also old it was extremely small too - even for an older building. I mean one person max in there at a time to do anything. The shower head hit me about mid chest and I’m 6’ tall - so lots of stooping to wash your hair. The main area with the Murphy bed was big enough - there was a decent sized TV on an old dresser, an old small couch which unfortunately wasn’t comfortable, and a small table that had gouges taken out of the wood. Regarding the Cable/internet, both went out on our first day. It came back within a relatively short period of time but the front desk people seemed to blow it off like it wasn’t anything unusual. We were on the 8th floor and the view was honestly the best thing about the room. The balcony was big enough for three people to sit but one of the air conditioners vented on one end out there so one person was always getting blasted by hot air if all three of us were out there. For the suites building, there is a tiny parking garage. It’s so small that it only takes cars and there is a big sign warning you of absolutely no trucks, vans, SUV’s, etc. They have a few parking lots across the street on the other side of other hotels and we were always able to find a spot. Just be prepared to have to cross Ocean Blvd and walk about a 1/2 block to get to your car. I also wanted to mention the door keys - they’re the credit card style electronic keys that most older hotels use. Unfortunately this was probably one of the most annoying things about our stay. We repeatedly had the cards fail and had to walk from our 8th floor room and then walk two buildings away to the office and then wait in line to get new ones. The front desk attendant even told me that it happens all the time and they just throw the “defective” cards in the trash because they go through thousands of them. To me, this just says that they recognize there is a problem and they just accept it. What it actually means is that their door entry equipment is old and dated and doesn’t work reliably, but they’d rather just buy a ton of new cheap cards than fix the actual problem. Trust me, when you have a load of groceries at the door on the 8th floor and you have to go wait in line two buildings away for another card to get into your room, you’ll feel my pain lol. The pool areas were actually nice. The main pool is a decent size, maybe a little small for 4 buildings but not bad. They also have two small indoor/outdoor pools and a lazy river too. The pool bar at the main pool is small but the staff was super nice and they have some good food and drinks. We really enjoyed the live band on the days that they were there but oddly it only played there on two afternoons of our weeklong stay - a Thursday and Friday afternoon and only until about 5:00. They weren’t there at night or on the weekend days which was a bummer for us. The grassy area between the beach and the pool is nice - it offered a nice area away from the loudness of the pool area if you need it without having to mess with the sand. There were tables with umbrellas and chairs to relax in. Also to note is that there is a public beach access in between the Dayton House Suites building and the other Dayton House buildings. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but just know that you have a public beach access in the middle of your resort so it was a bit odd with random people walking through the lot all the time and accessing the beach in front of your building. Well this was a long review but vacations aren’t cheap and although we really didn’t have a choice except to stay here because of our baseball tournament, I wanted to give our take on the stay. Frankly, even though we had a fun trip in general, I probably wouldn’t willingly choose to stay here again. It was okay and because of baseball we weren’t in the room a lot, but if I was just on a regular family vacation I would have been more disappointed with the accommodations - especially after seeing the glamour shot photos online and for the price. I will say that the location of the hotel is nice - we walked to dinner a few nights and that was fun to do.

Family Vacation Thoroughly enjoyed the resort. 22 family members from 18 months old to 90 years old spent a wonderful week. Something there for everyone. Polite responsive staff. So much within walking distance. Free daily breakfast was a bonus! Would visit again!

25 th Anniversary trip The staff was friendly, the room was nice and had a good view. The housekeeping could have been better I had to go ask for coffee one time and she didn’t always take our dirty towels . But I am marking that up at maybe being short handed on staff , it wouldn’t stop me from going back .

Awesome place with Great Amenities foe everyone Excellent place with Amazing Amenities and beautiful ocean views. Loved the suites. Newly painted and redone. New beds/matresses, furniture, updated kitchen complete with full size fridge and stove and bathrooms were clean and newly tiled.. So much to see and do. Loved the pools, hot tub, and lazy river. The suites are the way to go for the best views. Living room is very spacious, love the large balcony to sit and look at the ocean. The Yella Umbrella had great food at affordable prices. Loved the mixed drink selection available. I would suggest the beach bum _ the breakfast hall across the street was a huge bonus. Newly aquired and updated. Great choices for everyone from fruit to waffles. Scrambled eggs, sausage and grits were served daily along with other daily options. Coffee, milk, and juice was also included. The water was very good so no bottled water is needed, and i am very picky when it comes to my water. We ate dinner out each night but you could cook instead to save money. Suggestion is to eat early or very late or you will wait up to 2 hours for a table. The board walk is so much fun. Weekends usually have free bands. The parking is very good at the resort. The elevators are a bit slow. Teh staff was friendly and very helpful. 100% recommend this place.
