I've stayed here several times ... THIS TIME WAS MY LAST! BEWARE OF USED CONDOMS!!! I thought it was charming and nice enough for a little weekend getaway. I've stayed here a couple times and haven't really had any problems. I was glad to hear that they were updating/rebranding/remodeling bc it could most def use it. It was a pretty decent value for the location and no one comes to the beach to spend all their time in the room anyways. We checked in on a Wednesday afternoon and went out for dinner that evening. The next morning in the day light as we were getting ready to hit the beach we discovered a USED CONDOM on the arm of the chair right next to the bed (it was on the arm closest to the wall so it wasn't in plain sight). To say I was disgusted was an understatement. I would've taken a photo for proof but that would've just made me want to hurl. We went down and explained to the front desk what we had discovered and they were just as shocked as we were ... But they only offered an apology and said they suspected that one of the housekeeping staff likes to "use" the room when it isn't occupied by guests. THAT'S REAL COOL! They sent the housekeeping staff up immediately and we went to the beach. Upon checking out, I asked to speak with a manager again about the situation as it would be nice if we could be financially reimbursed for at least one night's stay for having such a disgusting incident occur. There was no manager on duty (of course) but the girl at the desk was very courteous and promised she would relay all my concerns. It has been 4 days since our check out and not one peep from anyone. I liked this place originally because it wasn't some huge big nameless/faceless resort that has 20 pools to maneuver around to get to and from the beach or a monster parking deck that takes 10 minutes to get out of to go to dinner. But after no response to my request regarding this issue I've learned my lesson ... I'M NEVER STAYING HERE AGAIN AND I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE ELSE EITHER! That is unless you enjoy used condoms in your room and poor customer service.

No Frills, but Just FINE Anyway The Inn has changed its circus moniker from the (Carnival) name to The Wave. The wife, our 3 year old service Pom pooch and I stayed at The Wave for 3 (rainy & humid) nights during the last week in July 2014. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience for the money. We occupied an "Oceanfront Deluxe Efficiency" on the 5th floor. The GOOD ****Receptionist Tammie was personal & communicative ****Location; Location: Location over looking the beach & pool ****The bathroom & sleeping areas were clean ****Full Size Ice Box (for the elder sect) & Frig (for the younger generation) ****Stove w/ oven ****Microwave oven ****Pots/pans/cookery/plates & utensils furnished ****A balcony w/ 2 stairs & small table looking onto the pool & beach areas ****Cleaning lady was quite cordial, pleasant & good-natured Be Mindful Of -The Wave is still a bit ruff around the edges -The Wave is still being upgraded e.g. putting flat screen TVs in rooms -The beds in our room were on coaster wheels (a minor point) -Floor had a decorative covering simulating wood veneer (a minor observation) -Extremely Soft/Cushiony Pillows (Major Distraction) -The commode / toilet was low to the floor (took getting use to) -No iron for the wife -Could never get the air conditioning unit to maintain a steady temperature (the unit most definitely could get the room plenty cold in late July). The Wave, a.k.a. The Carnival Motor Inn is no Bellagio or Venetian of Las Vegas. But if you want a "no frills boutique" accommodation in Myrtle Beach, consider The Wave. -

Great price, ok room The room we stayed in could use a little work, ceiling in bathroom leaking a little not enough to really notice & toilet kept running non stop. Main door to room was extremely hard to open, had to get maintenance to open several times as the key would not unlock it. Beds would not stay in place as they were not attached to anything & beds were on wheels that did not lock; however the room was clean, adequately met our needs & perfect for a weekend getaway. Small simple fixes nothing major to really complain about. I know they do updates to a room every year so this is one of them that I know will come. I will definitely stay at this hotel again despite the small things. Reading other reviews I will just request one of the newer renovated rooms next time & if they aren't available, I will still stay as it was very clean & the staff was excellent & extremely nice. The price was great & for the location you can't beat it @ all. Quaint hotel & staff extremely friendly. Right on the beach, again can't beat the price for a hotel right on the beach, especially in Myrtle. Definitely affordable & worth it.

Love Love Love the newly renovated rooms! This hotel is an older family run hotel. Every year they do updates to the rooms in some fashion. To my surprise I was put on the 4th floor in one of the completely renovated rooms. It was great. The room is clean, the bed was comfy and the view was awesome! The staff are friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The price is very reasonable. I will be coming back! This place is the best kept secret in Myrtle Beach!
