Fine hotel in a not-fine part of town The pillows and bed at this hotel are great! The pillow situation at hotels is always rough, but these actually are firm if they say 'firm'. One of the better night sleeps I've had at a hotel. Now the downside: this part of town did not make me feel safe. The hotel was perfectly fine and clean. Exactly what I'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express, but the later it got the more I was a little unsure about venturing outside. Especially because just down the sidewalk was a shopping cart with a homeless man sleeping behind it. Not a fault of Holiday Inn Express, but wanted to alert anyone that was looking for options. Also, we booked this hotel because looking at a map it appeared close to a marina and we were heading out on a cruise the next morning. This is near a marina, but not where cruise ships leave from. I think there's some sort of fishing trips you can take, but don't quote me on that.

Dishonest staff Dishonest Staff. Last night I stayed at this location. The gentleman at the front desk told me I had a duplicate reservation and I could contact Expedia the next day and they would verify that I already paid. I contacted Expedia and when they called to verify, a woman told them that she had informed me I had to contact Expedia before my stay. I never spoke with a woman at the hotel other than the breakfast staff. Basically I paid twice for the same night. I have never stayed a hotel that lied about speaking to me so that they could charge me double. Very scary and now I see why they have so many bad reviews. Steer clear of dishonest staff at this location. Very unprofessional to lie and it’s unfortunate because all the ladies at breakfast and cleaning staff are so kind. It only takes one person to ruin the hotel’s reputation. Stay somewhere else that won’t lie and rip you off.

Great stay! We stayed here for several nights and it was one of the best hotel stays we have had. The primary reason is it was QUIET! I never heard anyone in the rooms next door. I actually slept well. The new HIE you can hear the conversatinos being had in the other rooms. Nice, big bright bathroom and shower (not like the closets they have in the new HIE they are building) and FREE parking! Unheard of in Cali. The 4 stars is because breakfast was weak. Wish they had more fresh fruit, more variety and getting out of the driveway heafing to the highway is insane. You take your chances everytime you exit. Wish the hotel could petition the city for a light there so we could exit safey. Lots of resturants in the area, great Chinese right next door, Walmart and Target very close. We would stay here again 100%. Friendly front desk employees. Very responsive.

Good Location and wheelchair friendly I stayed here a couple times. There's free parking for all. This hotel is wheelchair friendly. The day manager is friendly and helpful. The rooms are well taken care of and well stocked with things you might not have with you. There was no drama going on here. Quite respectable. Nice breakfast to start your day. Good beds.

Bad Customer Service we checked in here before new year's and came in at around 2:20pm we didn't know that their check in time is at 3pm and the lady in the counter was like 'No i cannot check you in, it's at 3pm" with that pointer finger wiggling! _ no apologies, no excuses, no valid reason why she can't check us in early so we waited in the lobby.. and so 3 more guests came in 5 minutes later and four families were all waiting in the lobby and she finally decided to check us in?!?! And i asked her why she changed her mind and decided to check us in anyway before 3pm? "It's policy" she said. wth!!! i can totally see even behind her mask that she doesn't want to be working there that day.. they were renovating the fourth floor, with paint odor, electric cords everywhere and machine works in the background and that is where this lady gave us our room, in the fourth floor!?! when we were in the room, their tv was not working so we went down to ask her for help and said "ill send someone" and turned around right away! i don't see any manners for this person she shouldn't be in the front talking with people..
