Best beach and Great resort! It was my second time at Tropical Bay. And want to come back again and again :) Love this place: the beach is incredible; food is very good at the buffet. Service is good, some servers put heart there, some just OK. This time we preferred food at the buffet but didn’t like restaurants much. Rooms are clean and spacious. The entertainment is good. Just go and you will love this place.

Great relaxing family vacation We had a nice time at Tropical Bay! We have stayed at various all inclusives in the Caribbean, this was our first in Jamaica. Full disclosure, we are easy going and don’t have crazy ridiculous expectations. _ The buffet food was okay. We have had better at other resorts, but we understand it is hard to mass produce super high quality of food. There was a lot of selection though. The pros: - specialty restaurants were great and easy to reserve through the app. - room was clean throughout our stay - entertainment was quite varied… especially the water ballet show - when booking return airport transportation, they did not push you to buy excursions. - the beach was clean and the water was SO calm and clear. One day we walked along the rope barricade and found 85 starfish and a stingray! Cons: - pools close at 6pm, which was a bummer - the mattresses were not comfy, but I expect that so I bring a pool float to sleep on to make it more manageable LOL - swim up bar is only in the adult pool which is a bummer for older kids. They do monitor very well, so they’ll get kicked out! - no bar menu for drink… but we ventured to the sister resort and they had one which was helpful to be able to order drinks we didn’t know they had! - there are people peddling things on the beach. They will approach you but if you say no thanks, they leave you alone. I was surprised that Riu allows this, but I guess if they don’t cause problems it’s okay? - waivers for water sports and daily bingo are all done with your phone. No exceptions! So bring it even though you are on vacay! Tips: - bring bug spray… didn’t anticipate so many mosquitoes! - reserve specialty restaurants early through the app - be prepared for a long ride to and from the airport if you are using Riu’s free transportation. - there’s a lot of bees hanging around anything sweet. So if you’re terrified of bees, steer clear!

Day one- not so good Day one - not great. We booked 2 of their nicer rooms for a family of 4 for 25th wedding anniversary ( honeymoon suite and junior suite). Checked in online and got here and there is no one at the guest services where you are supposed to get faster service for checking in online. Had to wait in RIU class line anyway and then they messed up who was in what room and couldn’t find my one son. The deck is large in honeymoon suite but there are only 2 measly folding chairs and we asked for 2 more so we can sit as a family. We got a call and were not nicely told. 2 is ‘standard” so basically too bad. The food at the buffet was meh at best- think college cafeteria. Please see picture of lame deck furniture- there really should be 4 chairs as well as loungers. Been to various places in Jamaica with at least 15 trips and we have 5 nights here so we will see how the rest goes… just unimpressed to be honest
