Between 3* and 4* based on location of your room. The location is great, though not right in the middle of the French quarter, with easy enough access over Canal Street. Now it certainly wasn't a quiet experience. We unfortunately due to the rate I had booked, received a room directly across from the elevator AND on the street side above the garbage cans. I should have moved had I known about the garbage truck noise in advance. Noisy on both sides especially in the morning when the garbage trucks came through. It's a lovely old building with little insulation. The front desk staff was nice and greeted us throughout our 4 night stay. Now the fun part - one night the fire alarms went off around 11:00pm. For some of us with children, yes, we were asleep in New Orleans. So when you are near the elevators, there is a large door that SLAMS shut to disallow access to the elevators during a fire. That door certainly worked and got the opportunity to work 3 times that night at my dismay. Twice before midnight and then again around 5:00am. Luckily being on the 5th floor, it was an easy walk down. I left two in the room before dragging everyone out of bed - there was no fire but an angry dishwasher in the restaurant kitchen whose steam they said was setting off the alarm. The biggest issue was the staff couldn't turn off or knew how to turn off the incessant fire alarm noise even after it was determined a false alarm - the firemen had to do it for them. Now that happened twice - by 500am fire alarm, the staff had figured it out. I would stay here again, believe it or not - though they didn't have a pool. So I might try the other Renaissance with a pool next time. The rooms were nice however our bathroom in 503 needs to be updated as the wallpaper was coming off and tile was moldy. So to avoid garbage truck noise, stay away from any of the lower levels and rooms ending in 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07. I would avoid those numbered room on floors 3,4, 5,6, 7, 8 as well. I guess the higher you get up, the less noisy. You might be better off in rooms ending in 18,19,20,21 etc. Rooms ending in 03 and 04 are directly across from each elevator bank on each floor. Valet parking was $40 a day, I think.

Clean & Location is perfect for French Quarter Spent 3 nights here for Mardi Gras. Perfect location to access French Quarter attractions & just a couple blocks from parade routes. Canal street with trolley stops one block away. Daisy Dukes a 24/7 restaurant with good food around the corner. Hotel is clean. Big lobby with lots of seating areas. Small bar in lobby for refreshments & in morning hours a coffee bar is open. The attached restaurant (tacklebox) has really good food and a large bar. All the staff was extremely friendly & helpful. Our housekeeper was fantastic... she made our room shine every day. Our king room had a large bathroom, big closet, and mini fridge/coffee maker/ hair dryer. The bed was soft & comfortable. Parking is valet only - no self park. As far as cons: We did have a problem with the shower leaking out the bottom of door, but we made it work & cleaned it up with towels after using it. The water pressure in shower was not great too. Our friends stayed in a different room and had a bathtub & no problem with pressure... so I guess it just depends on what room you get. Also, lots of street noise, but that’s to be expected with a big city hotel. We would go back because of the location & cleanliness.

Some Pros, Some Cons The Pros - Mostly friendly, helpful staff. Nice, but small rooms. Spacious Lobby. Very Good Restaurant Convenient Location. Cons - No actual Concierge Lounge, just small out of the way snack room. Not as nice as other Renaissance Hotels.
