Lack of fee transparency was disappointing. The hotel itself was lovely — clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, which made our stay enjoyable. However, we did encounter an issue with the booking. We booked through a third party in Australia (Qantas Airlines) and paid in full for two rooms before arriving. When we checked in, we were told we had to pay an additional $30 per night for a “destination tax.” This fee was not mentioned anywhere in our booking paperwork. When we questioned it, we were told it was mandatory. After looking into it later, I discovered that destination fees should be disclosed upfront or clearly included in booking details. New regulations — similar to the FTC’s “Junk Fees” rule in the U.S. — require hotels to make these charges transparent. While the fee itself may still be mandatory, it should be clearly communicated at the time of booking to avoid confusion. Overall, a lovely hotel and great staff, but the lack of fee transparency was disappointing.

Great checkin experience The hotel is updated and upholds what I expect from a Westin property. Robert was amazing at the front desk. Very friendly and knowledgeable, make that man manager before he graduates

Poor Experience Poor overall experience. $63/ night for valet. Night 2 my tools were stolen out of my toolbox. I informed valet but didn’t complain, just accepted it off to a lesson leaned. Night 4 my truck was booted because the valet paled me in an unsecured lot then did not pay for parking. When I finally expressed concern I was told “We don’t have any managers on property.” They consistently tried to hide their mistakes. Since my wife and kids were with me we stayed in a suite so the baby had his own area to sleep. We were on the top floor first room past the elevators. Elevators were so loud they kept us up all night. Lamps by the bed and ceiling above the bed were stained with a red/ dark brown liquid splatter. Praying it wasn’t blood. I’ll attach pictures.

Nice Hotel, but Noisy We wanted to stay in the French Quarter without the crowds and party noise, so we decided to stay a little further afield in the Quarter at the Westin. When you arrive, you take an elevator to the 11th floor to check in at the front desk. The hotel sits atop a high-end shopping mall and its several levels of parking garage. The 11th floor has great views of the mighty Mississippi, and there’s a large bar for food and drinks. Our room was on the 27th floor, accessed by another set of elevators which require a room key to use. The traditional king room was nice and roomy, a little dated but not bad. There was a table and velvet couch which my boyfriend used to send a couple of work emails and make some calls. The bed was very cozy and comfortable, with nice linens, and there was a bench at the foot of the bed for getting dressed and putting on shoes. The refrigerator was hidden behind a door that looks like drawers, and there’s a small flimsy coffee maker to make in-room coffee (coffee to go out and get more coffee). The bathroom was spacious with a nice shower and plenty of towels. Very light on the amenities, but I asked for a shower cap at the front desk and I was given two. All of the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The main drawback of this room was a strange motor sound that went on constantly, day and night. It wasn’t loud enough to prevent us from sleeping, but it was very annoying. We didn’t want to change rooms, so we just lived with it for two nights, but it was definitely an irritant. Also, there’s live music and party noise coming from the party riverboats, and also trains that blow their horns while traveling through the city. The earliest one I noticed was at 6:30 am, and the latest was at 9:30 am. All in all, the Westin is an okay place to stay. We’d stay there again if we needed to, but the room and exterior noise and having to take two elevators to go to our room or outside were drawbacks for us.
