Shame on Mohonk Mountain! 1 - for the Buffet Lunch only. The sit down lunch USED to be outstanding and worth every penny ($175)! It WAS amazingly creative and delicious! Now it’s a buffet which appears to have NO influence at all from a Chef - bland mashed potatoes, uninspired plain pasta, pitiful sparse “salad” choices, one seafood dish - mahi mahi, dry baked chicken, roast beef with runny horse radish, very ordinary sandwiches including small samplings with 2 Swiss cheese slices over a couple of ham pieces. The saving grace was the fresh creative deserts. The chef servers USED to take pride in offering their Best and asking what they could make for you. Now they stand around talking to each other and you have to ASK them to serve you food that isn’t even as good as Golden Corral.

As good as it gets Mohonk Mountain House is all inclusive and exquisite. We came for 2 nights (myself, adult daughter and her 2 little boys) and had an amazing time. Arrived early the first morning so had 2 full days of meals, activities. The setting is gorgeous. so much to do. We loved it.

Wonderful - We will be back Wow!!! Our extended family trip of 7 was amazing. We stayed 2 nights and should have done 3. It is not a cheap place to stay but worth it. Amazing activities, food and rooms. We loved it and will be back. So fun our college and high school aged sons loved it.

A step back in time! Mohonk is a favorite place for our family - we've been visiting since the early 1950's. Things have changed a lot over the years - but in general, it is still a place we love to be. Depending on the season you will find different activities to do. Be sure to read up on what's available! We love to hike, fish, boat and use the lake to swim. In the winter, the skating rink is a lot of fun and if we are lucky enough to have snow - cross country skiing is always a good time! We haven't been able to try out the new tubing runs. Although - we cringed at this being added and seeing trees cleared to do so. :( But - like I said, things change. Rooms are clean - service is excellent and friendly. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is that the cost has really started to outweigh the experience, making it a big challenge for an average 2 income family to visit. Mohonk is a special place - a slower pace - beautiful views, great food - good entertainment and plenty of family activities. Sadly the cost prohibits us from visiting as often as we'd like - and arguably, for some, the cost may not match the experience. For us, the nostalgia of times gone by keeps us coming back.

Vintage Hospitality This was our first visit to the Mohonk Mountain House; we went there to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The setting is stunning, with beautiful mountain and lake views. The hotel's ambience is traditional, warm, inviting, and homey, with elegant wood wainscoting, rich carpeting, real fireplaces, and comfortable sitting areas throughout. Our room was luxurious, with all the amenities we could wish for including nice touches such as a gift basket with a variety of tasty snacks. The staff was superb, with everyone helpful and courteous. We’ve never before experienced a hotel where a bellhop took our luggage from our car at the front door, the valet took our car, and all we had to do was walk ourselves inside, check in at the front desk, and head upstairs to our room — and there was the bellhop just coming out, having placed all our luggage inside. This was emblematic of everything at the hotel — they are so hospitable, making everything so easy and making us feel well cared for. The hotel’s all-inclusive dining and activities are paradigms of real vintage hotel hospitality. We needed to truncate our stay because our daughter went into early labor and was hospitalized and needed our help. (Thank goodness all went well. She had the baby, and everyone’s doing great.) The front desk, and manager Albert, immediately accommodated our request for an early check out — Albert kindly, and without hesitation, authorized a full refund for the remainder of our reservation. We will be forever grateful, and definitely plan to return to this amazing hotel for future vacations.
