The Beacon was as good as our last visit. The Beacon is our favourite hotel in New York for many reasons. The location is great as you’re within walking distance to Central Park, Amsterdam Avenue and Columbus Circle which means that there is plenty to do. There’s a great atmosphere around the Upper West Side that we love. The Fairway market right across the street is brilliant and some of the food there is amazing value.
The staff at The Beacon are so friendly and when they realised we had stayed there before it was always “welcome back”.
We stayed in a King on the 20th floor and it had everything we needed as a couple. Although our next visit to the States may be to Boston, when we do go back to New York we’ll be booking The Beacon.

Very disappointing! Booked The Beacon 6 months ago through our wedding planners recommendation for our daughter’s wedding at the museum.
Booked 12 rooms between friends and family.
The hotel completely overbooked July 16 and 17 and disregarded our reservations. Asking people to “ combine rooms “ by suggesting putting 6 people together in a room with rollaway beds. The unfriendly and unkind front desk ladies lied to us with a straight face and one told one of us, there were broken water pipes, while the other said some rooms had pest control issue with termites. We know they just overbooked. Our families arrived from a 8 hour flight from Germany past check in time and were “ held “ in the lobby for over 1 hour with elderly folks and kids. When we asked for a bottle for water we were told by the unkind front desk lady “ we don’t have any! “ We ended up combining rooms, because we had simply no other choice, but to leave the hotel and our prepaid rooms behind. This type of treatment is not acceptable for this reputable hotel. The manager David, who we checked others in on the previous day, offered solutions and it was ok for one night, but the female manager and the front desk staff on the following day were completely unprofessional!

Tons of space at an a reasonable price You get a huge space for a reasonable price at Hotel Beacon.
Do the rooms need a refresh? Absolutely. And a deep cleaning as well. However, outside of the that, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for an extended stay, or if you just don't want to eat out every single meal. The staff are all kind and helpful, house keeping will replace any dirty dishes you leave in the sink (we just washed as we went), and the beds are super comfortable.
Traveling with a 6-year-old presents it's challenges when staying in hotels, but our stay at Hotel Beacon felt like we had sublet an apartment for the week and it was a super easy and delightful stay.
Great location to both the subway and buses, the Fairway across the street is open until midnight, and Cafe Viand next door has the best grilled cheese in the the city (according to our kiddo).

worthwhile Located in upper mid town the hotel location is not as accessible to sights as other hotels, but it makes up for that with comfortable rooms at affordable prices and friendly and competent service.
The rooms are spacious and quiet and there is a nice exercise facility on premise.

Fantastic NYC hotel We had an absolutely wonderful 8 night stay at the Beacon Hotel last month. The hotel has kept its old world charm with fantastic facilities & amenities. On site laundry was wonderful , kitchenette, comfy beds & linens all helped make our stay 5 stars. The location is perfect, only one block from the subway & just a few blocks to Central Park, perfect!! The best part of stay was the wonderful staff, from the friendly door man, front desk, concierge & our beautiful cleaning staff. A special shout out to Jenny at the front desk!! My daughter was lucky enough to have her birthday while we were there & Jenny went above & beyond to organise a gift for her, which made her day extra special. We will definitely come back to stay at this beautiful hotel.
