Nice hotel! After reading multiple reviews, we were apprehensive, but I can’t fault this hotel. Yes the rooms are tired and could do with updating in places, but they were clean and beds very comfortable. Staff are friendly, location of the hotel is great. We were worried about the ‘club’ that is attached to the hotel but it didn’t disturb us at all, the streets are noisy as you would expect in the middle of NYC. Would definitely stay in this hotel again!

Worst hotel (hostel) ever! Booked a romantic long weekend in New York with my husband through a tour operator in uk! Did not expect to turn up at this DUMP! I am well travelled and have stayed in many different types of accommodation over the years and this hotel is horrendous. I wouldn’t even call it a hotel it’s a hostel. With most clientele school trips. Every single person I witnessed checking in during my stay either checked back out or asked for the room to be upgraded. We had no hot water for our whole trip and the air conditioning blew hot air out! The maintanance fixed it and it lasted A couple of hours! I would dread to think of the heat in the summer months as I didn’t sleep for the entire trip, the wallpaper is hanging off in rooms and hallway, carpets are hanging by a thread with huge holes everywhere. Rooms are dirty with extreme updates needed. Reception staff are unfriendly and unhelpful and completely unsurprised at any complaint! They probably have so many a day! I would avoid avoid avoid this hotel! Only positive is that it’s right on time square. Trip advisor should request more recent pictures of this dingy disgusting hostel! Absolutely no way it’s a 3* hotel it’s more like a 1*

Less hotel more hostel Arrived here on the 16th Feb with my wife for three nights. Firstly we were met with a broken automatic door at the entrance with caution tape all over it and reception didn’t look much like the photos. When checking in the lady on reception wasn’t very warm at all and took my credit card details without explaining exactly what for- I assumed as a damage deposit. However I found out when I checked my bank account when I got home that they had taken money off me for tax’s etc and also for a room upgrade. This would have been fine if they had explained the details in advance. Then there was the ‘lift’ which was extremely slow and often stank of cannabis as many of the guests staying here were what I would call ‘stoners’. Next there was the room which appeared dirty and old. Not much worked in it bar the necessities like the shower etc so I can’t complain too much. Although you could hear a lot of noise throughout the night, especially from the nightclub next door that played loud music until 4.30 am but when you go to NYC you have to expect noise in my opinion so we were expecting this. Some positive points are that the cleaning/maintenance staff were very friendly and helpful. Also there was a very nice lady on reception when we were checking out(pity she wasn’t on duty the other days). Finally, we wouldn’t stay in this hotel again as it seems more like a hostel now. I would up my budget and try and get a better hotel. However my wife and I didn’t let it destroy our trip at all as the room was mainly just a place to sleep at night as we were out all day enjoying what the city had to offer!

Worst experience in a hotel Last week, 5th of February I checked in at The Gallivant till 12th, and I can say without any doubt, this was the worst experience I had in a hotel. For different reasons and not only one. First, when we arrived, we had no hot water, we waited like 40min for someone to come to try fix that. Couple days later, same thing. No hot water and they told us: “this is an old building, so you just need to let the water run”. What the heck?? What kind of hotel say this? Second, the room we stayed, is not shown in any hotel company, and worse, not even in your website. Third, the noise. I was in the 14th floor, and I could hear literally anything from the streets. People talking, ambulance, party’s, music, etc. Forth, people at the reception are not very nice. NEVER asked once if it’s everything fine, if we needed anything. During the check out, the lady who was working, was very unfriendly and rude. She was talking so quiet, and once again, didn't even ask if we enjoyed. Never looked at me in the eyes. Fifth, when I checked in, I payed 68$ tax, and I asked the gentleman on the reception if we were going to charged more. He said “No”. After a couple of days, I had less 52$ in my account. This was a terrible experience. 7 nights I stayed in this hotel for like 100$ a night. This building is not how you guys show in the pictures, is nothing like it. The only one good thing about all of this, was the house keeping staff. Very funny and friendly. The rest, very disappointed. What a waste of money. I work in hospitality, and I never across nothing like this. Xavier Gomes, room 1400.

Good location - Just about average hotel(if that) The only thing about the hotel that really stands out is that it is located near Times Square. Which although is very convenient, it may not meet many peoples standards. But, if you’re looking for a low end, budget hotel, then this is the one for you! Also, most of the staff are helpful and welcoming , so there aren’t any issues with that. It’s just mainly the cleanliness that overtakes it coupled with the shoddy paint jobs in and out the rooms as well as the unfinished bits around the hotel. This was made worse by the loud noises that came all throughout the night. BRING AIRPLUGS
