My new nyc favorite I travel to nyc often and have stayed all over, but I think I've finally found my home away from home. This hotel is an absolute gem. The executive lounge was the perfect place to start and get work done between meetings for the week I was there. It is stocked with freshly grinded expresso, coffee, fantastic chips and cliff / granola bars, fruit, water, sift drinks, and more all day. At breakfast, add in a very large assortment of pasteries, yogurt, and more. The attendents are amazing. A 24-hour doorman is always there to welcome you (George is beyond amazing), the rooms are super special with fresh flowers and real paintings. There is plentyy of room and it is super swank in the best of ways. Everything is spotless and well cared for. I had an armoire that was probably 100 years old in my room, and it was in superb shape. Yes, character ages, but I simply love most everything about the hotel too. Super quiet even right next to the elevator yet central to everything you could want. More than 5 stars.

Lost its Appeal We stayed at this hotel in 2015 and loved it! Happy hour with the wine and cheese was a definite attraction as well as the delicious continental breakfast. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the same experience in 2024. Pros: Nice lobby, centrally located, easy access to rail, walkable to many points of interest, friendly and courteous staff. Cons: Rooms in desperate need of updating! Dirty carpets, old saggy mattresses, tile in bathroom not clean, huge chip in bathtub, very loud AC, peeling wallpaper, many dents and chips in furniture, some areas lacked dusting. Afternoon wine and cheese no longer is offered. Continental breakfast had limited healthy choices , with the exception of the boiled eggs and bananas. Everything else offered included sugary pastries and packaged processed items. Overall Impression: This beautiful historic building has incredible potential to be something grand. It’s unfortunate that the owners have not invested in renovations so that the hotel could return to its former splendour.

Terrible first stay I stayed in room 40. I had high expectation and was excited to visit the hotel. The air conditioner was SO loud and made a terrible loud rattling noise on and off throughout the whole night. I did not sleep at all. I got up to try and make it better and you can visibly see the cover is not fully attached to the wall - there is a few inches exposed which is probably which contributes to the sound being extra loud and horrible. I mentioned this to the front desk in my check out and she made no sincere interest in caring about it. In fact, she was not friendly at all. She didn’t even ask me how my stay was. I had to bring it up. The gentlemen who checked in me was much nicer the day before. I wrote to management regarding this experience and will see how they respond. I’m incredibly disappointed and exhausted today.

Art-form level customer service A hotel that brings customer service to art-form level! Every interaction is joy and their aim is most definitely to please. If tired of being treated just average and that your patronage does not really matter - then book at Elysee - you will not be disappointed

Charming and wonderful hotel This was my first time staying in this hotel. Past trips I have always stayed at a Marriott in NYC. I loved the charm and feel of this small hotel. It has a very London/Paris feeling to it. My room was spacious and lovely. While the decor and feel is older, it has a real charm to it. The Monkey Bar restaurant on the first floor did not disappoint. The food was outstanding from appetizers to dessert. Clearly known for their martinis since most tables seemed to be ordering them. The second floor had a small guest gathering room. They provided water, coffee, tea, and simple snacks free to all guests. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were warm and friendly from check in to check out. The doorman was especially helpful and friendly - wish I could recall his name. My one comment would be on having more plugs in the room. I shared a room with a friend and there was only one spot (behind the desk) to charge our phones. Many hotels now have the lamps that allow you to plug into a USB. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this hotel. Bonus: An easy walk to Central Park (maybe 5 minutes) and some incredible restaurants.
