Lovely experience Hotel situated in an excellent location very central for most iconic landmarks. Staff very friendly and helpful, nothings to much for them. Hotel beautiful. Bed very comfortable and pillows so soft. Would recommend club lounge as a nice start to the day. Would definitely return.

Fantastic Home Away from Home in NYC I recently (between June and July) stayed at the InterContinental Barclay on three different occasions. The first time was with a friend; the second time was solo; the third time with my husband. My daughter was interning in midtown this summer, and living a few blocks away from the hotel location. I originally chose the Barclay based on location as well as it being an IHG hotel brand.) The location is perfect ... very central to everything (shopping, restaurants, Central Park), as well as very close to Grand Central. Also a very convenient location to get to from LGA. Upon check in on my first experience, everyone was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. A request for early check-in was taken and we were able to get into our room before 3 pm. Britt Kok, the Front Office Manager was lovely and very helpful throughout the booking process and my whole stay, as was the whole staff. Our room was perfectly big enough (especially for NYC rooms) and we had two double beds as requested. The room was very clean and smelled fresh. The bathroom was clean and modern, The beds were very comfortable, and the pillows were great. Noise level was perfectly fine. No disruptions or traffic noises at all. The hotel had a good energy - just enough people staying there that there was life to it, but not soo busy where you would feel overwhelmed or crowded. The hotel was super helpful and responsive when we requested a garment steamer (which they had a brought right up.) The downstairs restaurant bar was nice .... bartenders great, and the complimentary bar snacks were yummy. The wine list was nice, as were the cocktails. My daughter met me there for lunch and her salad was delicious. It was a great visit ... so much so that I went back two weeks later by myself to visit my daughter and stayed there again. Being alone - I always felt safe and never worried about not having someone with me. Again, everyone was helpful and the location could not be beat. On our third visit, my husband and I went together and had a room with a king bed and again, it was very comfortable, spacious enough and very clean. The attention to service was amazing ... our television wasn't working, and someone was up within 10 minutes to fix the issue (which they quickly did) .... we requested a number of items from catering to use for our daughter's birthday party at the park and every one was overly accommodating and helpful; it was so nice. After three stays over the course of a month and half, the Barclay felt like my home away from home. Between the perfect central location, the wonderful hotel staff, the clean & lovely rooms, the yummy food & drinks I don't imagine I will every stay anywhere else. Thanks Britt and the entire Barclay hotel. You made our summer awesome! See you back in September for the US Open!!!!!!

Money, money, money We recently stayed at this hotel for a week. We chose the hotel because we wanted a good standard of accommodation for our stay and we were IHG members. The room we had was clean and comfortable , also very quiet and so we slept well. The bathroom was also  of a good standard. However, for the cost of the room and the additional charges, i was disappointed.   The hotel seems totally focused on profit and not on customer experience. For example, for the $40 amenity fee that is charged per room (on top of room cost), you can claim back $30 on food and beverages. A can of diet coke is $15 !!! So hardly a ' benefit' . Wifi is a standard provision in all hotels, so saying it is part of the amenity fee is a bit cheeky. When you check in, you are also asked to pay an extra $200 a night 'security' deposit for any incidental damages to room, which seems exorbitantly high ; especially when checking other similar standard hotels. The cost of breakfast per person is nearly $50 !!! Ludicrous pricing when literally around the corner there is a vast choice of options for a fraction of the price and of very good quality. The area for service of food  is also small, and for a large hotel, this provision seems wholly inadequate. There is no complimentary water provided in room, though there is chilled water and ice available from machines on even numbered floors. The fridge in the room is absolutley packed with mini bar stock ( at ridiculous prices), and there is a small little area about 6 inches by 6 inches which they have labelled for 'personal use'. This I found very insulting. It was 95 degrees most days, and if i wanted to buy and store a chilled drink i was only 'allowed' a can size area ! Then there were things like the toiletries in the bathroom.  Yes they were a lovely brand name and good quality, however the container was never filled beyond a third of the bottle size . As the weather was so hot we were having several showers a day and had to ask for these to be restocked. Felt a bit like being rationed! This just seemed to demonstrate the mindset of the hotel that they want to be considered a luxury offering but offer the minimal for this and maximise profits at all costs. For that reason i will look elsewhere when returning to New York

Not received security deposit back After reading some of the reviews I have to agree with the negative reviews about check in, the amenities fees and security deposit. At check in we were told so quickly and unclear about the amenities fees that we didn’t understand it and actually asked a guest in the elevator what the deal was. They totally messed up our security deposit, still owe me around $200. I have been mailing with them, explaining several times why they owe me my security deposit (mines expenses), provided proof and now they don’t seem to answer anymore, very frustrating.

Consistently good Location of the room was the most silent of all of my stays (Upper floor facing 48th St) Room was smaller but still very comfortable and still probably bigger than NYC hotel average Carpet could be cleaner/newer. Great price to value!! Great service, great location
