Great Location/Great Room The hotel during COVID restrictions was unable to provide daily maid service or its usual full breakfast, but the great location, spacious rooms (by NYC standards), full kitchen and helpful staff really made up for any restrictions. A big shout out to Xelina at the front desk who helped me when I left my phone in a taxi (Yikes!). Not a pretentious hotel, but all the necessities of home with a central NYC location.

Nice hotel in the middle of city Hotel location is easily accessible. Near to many restaurants and entertainment establishment yet peaceful surroundings. Rooms offered are complete with mini kitchen, flat screen TV, mid size fridge, big microwave, two cooking convections and mid size dish washer. Clean small bath room with sink and good lighting every nook and cranny. King size bed and ample pillows made of soft and exquisite materials. Clean big drawers is use as TV stand and small office desk with chair for those who works remotely. Friendly, courteous and helpful hotel staff.

Beware of COVID changes to services I deliberately chose this hotel for two things: they offer a mini kitchen in the room with a regular sized fridge and the color scheme and photos looked light and airy. The hotel delivered on my first criteria. I changed rooms twice, but was still pretty unhappy with the darkness of the rooms. Front desk employee Angela was really trying and apologetic, but apparently most rooms are just dark (partially because the windows are facing close by walls, partially because the black out curtains are installed in a way that they take away a third of the overall window space). Location of the property is great and so is the mini kitchen, especially if you are trying to avoid restaurants during COVID. COVID is however the excuse for ceasing almost all usual services in the hotel - no breakfast, not even a grab and go option, no refill of coffee capsules for your in-room Keurig (they did however offer coffee downstairs in the early morning from an urn that EVERYONE touches). In the 8 days I stayed there I had zero maid service. During check in (on a Thursday) I was asked whether I wanted maid service on Tuesday or Thursday and I had to decide then and there - I chose Tuesday, however nobody ever came to do my room, when I called to find out what happened, I was told that I wasn't on the list. No remedies were offered. Other guests got take out food and left the empty containers, pizza boxes and such outside of their rooms in the hallways - I don't even blame them since nobody came by to clean out the trash cans in the rooms - but the smelly bags sat out in the hallways for several days. This is not only a health hazard but gives the hotel a youth hostel feel. Dirty linens were piled in front of the elevator and it took several days before those disappeared. I tried to drop off dry cleaning at the front desk - as advertised in the room - only to find out that due to COVID there is no longer dry cleaning, unless I organize that myself. So overall, other than for the location and the kitchen in the room, I would not recommend to stay at that particular property.

MUCH BETTER MARRIOTTS IN NEW YORK Designed by someone with a fondness for the color dark brown, this property doesn’t have an ounce of charm or elegance and even less sense of how to pamper a guest. It offers nothing: no doorman, no bellmen, no daily maid service during COVID, when you’re required to bring down your used or soiled linen and towels to the Front Desk for replacement — and then remake your own bed. We had to ask for complimentary water at check-in, a minimum standard for Marriott worldwide in my more than 50 years of travel with the company. The advertised complimentary breakfast has been disbanded; not even coffee is offered after 9 a.m. Despite being a Gold Elite Life member and having requested a complimentary upgrade in advance, the first room we were assigned was a glorified closet fit for a youth hostel, the kind of place you stay in when you’re in your 20s and traveling with a backpack. Marriott needs to seriously reconsider its Category 6 rating for this hotel or spend some big bucks to upgrade the lobby, rooms, decor and service. The depressing, IKEA-like furniture, carpeting, bathrooms and lukewarm Front Desk welcome all need an overhaul to raise this property, located in a prime East Side location, to Marriott standards. There are simply too many other Marriotts in New York for you to spend your money and/or time here.

Excellent One night Saturday end of Feb stay, got great online rate and then though marriott chat I received upgrade from Studio to 1BR suite corner room for only $59 extra which is substantial saving off regular price. My room was ready before 12noon on the marriott app. Check in quick front desk really nice you have to use your key cards for entrance and elevators. 10th floor 2 room suite was huge well worth the extra money, everything spotless with extra sani-wipes, 2 large TV’s and bathroom even had window, they use Tea Tree products in big bottles. No breakfast yet so points instead. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
