Complete Disappointment The hotel is rundown and we had bedbugs. The elevator is slow and clunky and broke during our brief time at the hotel. When we told the manager, he would not refund our room. I had stayed at the hotel a few times several years ago and it was in much better shape. Not a good value in Times Square.

Exemplary room in classic Art Deco surroundings We stayed at the Belvedere Hotel for our second trip to New York together. The hotel obviously stood out for its Art Deco architecture and design, and the pictures we saw of the rooms left a very nice impression. Since we wanted a room with a refrigerator, the fact that the rooms at the Belvedere have kitchenettes sealed the deal for us. Anyone looking for a hotel in a suitable location to explore New York from should be aware of the Belvedere. The hotel is located at W 48th St, very close to several subway stations and only a few minutes from Times Square by foot. Arriving at the hotel, we were quickly helped by a staff member who informed us that our room had very kindly been upgraded to one of the deluxe rooms on the 15th floor. We were amazed by how spacious our room was, and since it was located on the 15th floor it obviously featured a great view. The bed was large and comfortable. International travellers will be happy to discover that the rooms feature an alarm clock with several USB-types power outlets. Our room also had a large closet with a safe inside. The bathroom was quite sizeable, very clean and featured several amenities which could be used free of charge. The amenities are offered in a nifty system which allows for the amenities to be refilled in a sustainable way. I have seen some people complain about noisiness, but I can't say there was ever really noise disturbing us during our stay. As for noisiness from outside, we always slept with our windows open, yet never experienced problems. Before booking at the hotel, you do have to know that the hotel does not offer breakfast options. Obviously, there are numerous places to have breakfast very close by the hotel, so this too really didn't bother us. The only suggestion I would like to make is that some improvements could be made to the TVs. While our TV generally functioned okay, the model was a bit dated, and changing channels for example would sometimes take a while. We had a very cosy and comfortable stay at the Belvedere and we would definitely be inclined to return on a next trip to New York.

Bad hotel! Bad service! Bad hotel. Terrible bathroom, with a curtain that sticks in you when you take a shower. It gets everything wet. I almost fall when I get out of the shower. The pillow is extremely hard! I got headache and pain in my neck! It's not close to the attractions. There are lots of homeless people around. Terrible service and attention. Before you checking out, if you're with car, ask for 1 or 2 hours in advance!

Reasonable, upscale hotel in prime location My family and I are finishing a 4-day stay at The Belvedere and overall we have been very happy to have chosen this hotel to stay at (we chose it based on the recommendation of a friend who also stayed here). The decor is classy (even the mini-fridge in the room is a cut above expected) and the staff are professional, helpful and friendly. The inclusion of a microwave in the room is a great option to help offset the high cost of dining in NYC. And the location is hard to beat, within walking distance of Central Park, Times Square, and other attractions, and 2 blocks from 50th St. subway station. The only negatives that I would mention are that, while (as I mentioned) the in-room microwave is great, the omission of an in-room coffee maker seems odd, given that most hotels have one. Having one would help compensate for the minimal morning coffee service, which is simply a granola bar (one bar per person) and instant coffee from a Nescafe machine (hot chocolate or tea are also available). The only other negative I would mention is that, like many other buildings in NYC, The Belvedere is quite old (about a century, if not older) and while it doesn't show its age in most ways, the elevator service does. It consists of two cars of approx. 4 x 6 feet each in size, so each car can hold at most 10-12 people and runs quite slowly. As a result, trips downstairs typically take 5 minutes or more and are crowded. Having said all that, I don't mean to dwell on the negatives, because overall I do rate this hotel 4/5 stars and have enjoyed my stay here. We will definitely include The Belvedere for strong consideration in our choice of hotel the next time we visit NYC.

Look for alternatives first and if you can’t find any, prepare for some adventures in comfort and service. Outdated rooms but just good enough for a couple of days in New York City. Close to subway, Times Square and many, many restaurants, theaters etc. The facility / resort cost could only be explained either with “free tea, coffee and hot cocoa 07:00 to 10:00am) but even in NYC 91$ is a lot for this. The old room on the 4th floor was a bit damp and smelly and the AC unit pumped out a staggering 85dB which drowned out all noise from other guests and street noise.
