Good staff The Inn was as advertised, excellent. Manager and desk clerk with huge WELCOME upon arrival, Both Manager and Clerk assisted us in setting in since we had a few questions. They certainly made the trip more enjoyable.

Best hotel for the Film Festival! We stayed here for the Newburyport Documentary Film Festival for three nights. We had a lovely suite with a gas fireplace and jacuzzi. Everything in downtown Newburyport is within walking distance. Great restaurants, shops, the Fireplace theater and the Screening Room are very easy to walk to. Free parking in their large lot. We would definitely come back again.

Weekend stay for daughters wedding We stayed at Essex Street Inn the weekend of our daughter's wedding. Our overall experience was superb. The Inn was very clean, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, the staff was very friendly and the room had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out was very smooth. We also loved the convenience and location of downtown Newburyport. Everything we needed was within walking distance.

Historic and convenient Essex House. Friendly, helpful staff. Knowledgeable about the area. Terrific accommodations, clean well stocked rooms. Historic and convenient location to explore and enjoy all of Newburyport. Restaurants and shops all well within walking distance. Looking forward to visiting again.

Another Pleasant Visit to this Inn I previously stayed here in May 2022 and wrote a five-star review; see elsewhere. I had an attic room (#302) with a sloped ceiling on one side. The main room was fine; however, the bathroom was cramped and difficult to navigate. The service staff was excellent! I arrived late, struggling with various baggage. The receptionist kindly offered to help carry my bags, which I happily accepted. We then climbed multiple flights to the 3rd floor, as there is no elevator in this historic building. All interactions with staff over the three days were delightful. The Continental Breakfast was simple and good. I was happy to find hard-boiled eggs. Newburyport is a great small city with a lot of beauty and restaurants.
