Go for the views; stay for the service. Booked a last-minute beach cottage getaway and couldn’t have had a more relaxing or better escape. Beautiful waterfront cottage, breathtaking views and treated like royalty by everyone we encountered. No lunch reservations on arrival when they’re fully booked? No problem if you’re an overnight guest, as they’ll escort you to a premium table in the patio section reserved for hotel guests. Want breakfast on the deck of your cottage? It’s delivered piping hot precisely when you requested. Want to relax on their private beach? A friendly attendant sets up your covered lounge chairs, side table, umbrella and towels exactly where you want them, and brings you water and frozen grapes. Want to slip into town for a bite or shopping? Hop on the launch at their marina, and the captain will point out key sites along the way. Lunch and breakfast offerings were interesting and well-presented. If you can, make time for the included afternoon tea with freshly baked treats and tea sandwiches served in a cozy wood-panelled room off the lobby. Thoughtful amenities in the cottage included a dimmable light, umbrellas, heated bathroom floor, a deep soaking tub, a charging station, a small refrigerator stocked with free water (plus a split of champagne, wine, etc. for purchase), etc., and there’s turndown service with chocolates. Storage for clothing was rather limited if you’re planning an extended stay, but no problem for us. We come to Newport often so spent virtually all our time at Castle Hill. Loved every minute and will return.

Paradise! We stayed a couple of days in this wonderful resort. Everything was perfect, impeccable service both in the restaurants and in the room. We stayed in the beach cottage and it was an unforgettable experience, perfect location directly on the private and very quiet beach. We enjoyed breakfast served in the room, while we had dinner at The Lawn restaurant. Stunning view, tasty food, attentive and friendly service. We hope to be able to return soon to be pampered again in this paradise!

God View.. the view was great..... downhill from here... the drinks are weak, food is overpriced. although my swordfish was very good, just over priced.. the drinks are good but very weak on the liquor. 26 for a hamburger is a little steep.... i think its more for tourist.

LOCATION is good, and that's it.... THIS IS A REVIEW FOR STAYING AT THE BEACH COTTAGE: Please read in its entirety as I am being honest about staying at the Castle Hill Inn in one of their Beach Cottages for a week in July 2024. THE GOOD: 1. Location. You cannot get anything better than this location. On the beach. Step off your deck onto the sand and within 75 steps, you are in the water. It was so wonderful to leave the window cracked at night to hear the ocean. 2. Housekeeping: They were the ones with the best service and always made the room look as nice as it could. Very pleasant and friendly. 3. Front desk: Everyone we dealt with was always willing to help with dining reservations, and things to do and answered questions that we had. THE BAD: 1. The actual room. We paid almost $2,500/night for this cottage. THIS HAS TO BE one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed at in my life - and I've stayed in some small hotels in Europe! This cottage is so small!! You walk in and your tiny bathroom is on the right (and how they haven't had guests falling getting into their thigh-high bathtub/shower I have no clue!!). The shower also has a half divider that DOES NOT keep water off the floor so every shower, you have to use almost all the towels they give you to mop up the floor - or risk falling. You also have a kitchen (?) for some reason that isn't a kitchen. They have a microwave and plates and cutlery and a mini-fridge...but what are the plates for if you can't cook?? And only 2 forks and 2 knives?? Why bother. Then after you take the one step to get into the room (I'm being honest), you are in the bedroom/sitting room. The bed is called a Queen, but it's the smallest Queen-sized bed I've ever seen. The closet is on the left, but you can't open it more than a couple of inches because it bangs into the side table. WHO DESIGNED THIS?? There is no dresser, but a small cupboard on the side of the fireplace. I guess people who stay here don't need to unpack?? I was just in constant shock at the price they were charging for such a TINY TINY room!! 2. Only 1 ply?? Ok..I know this one is petty...but if I am paying this much money, can you please give me at least Charmin in the darn bathroom?? The toilet paper is see thru it's so thin!! 3. Restaurant/Room Service - Here is where they also fell short. We dined in the restaurant twice for breakfast, and once for dinner and had room service twice. We did not have a good experience with servers and service all 4 times. The room service came cold both times...we complained...they said they would come pick it up...never did...we gave up. 4. Lack of "extra service". We had notified the hotel beforehand that this was a milestone anniversary trip for us. Being the 5-star hotel it claimed to be, we were thinking they would do something nice. NOPE. All we got was "Happy Anniversary" written on a standard welcome letter that they give to all guests. WHAT THE?? Now...the reason I mention this is that I have been to "lesser star" hotels for prior anniversaries or birthdays and they have done some classy, first-rate extras - it just makes you feel special. This one...nope So...I actually wouldn't go back to this property because when I pay this much for a room, I want both LOCATION & ROOM to be nice. The location was great....but there are other places to stay in Newport (or surrounding areas) that would have the location AND nice room. Too bad that this missed it on so many levels.
