Welcoming and relaxing Stayed here with my husband last night for a short weekend getaway. So glad we did! Marilyn welcomed us with a generous pour of local wine (Pinot and Chardonnay), which we enjoyed out in the pretty courtyard. We then headed to Underwood Bistro for a delicious dinner of French and Thai food, plus excellent cocktails. We returned to a quiet, tranquil house. We happened to run into Jerome, the manager, who introduced himself and had a friendly chat. After a good night’s sleep, we woke up to the smell of baked goods. Turned out to be the lovely Lena in the kitchen, preparing a breakfast of scones, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, granola, fruits, etc. She also offered helpful tips about the area. In sum, the Inn at Occidental was everything we wanted it to be: a peaceful, charming base from which to explore the Sonoma Coast. We look forward to returning for many future visits!

Amazing weekend getaway! This is our first time out during the pandemic. My wife and I decided to spend her birthday out of the city & find a quiet place not too far from where we live. This place is an absolute gem! The setting & atmosphere of the place is very quire & restive. The only sound you can hear is the water from the beautiful fountain as you enter the main house. From there, we were greeted with a warm smile by Jerome. He suggested places to eat & wineries to go to within the area. The room was pleasantly cozy and clean. I ordered a chocolate cake for my wife's birthday, and it was delicious! I had to wife restrain her from eating everything! Another surprise we didn't expect was the breakfast meals. It was prepared from scratch by Chef Gerard, and it was outstanding! We looked forward waking up in the morning, and having breakfast. His creations were amazing! Thank you Inn at Occidental, we will definitely come back!

Warm, cozy respite. Stellar staff I booked this stay for my birthday weekend. I have always loved Occidental. There is great road riding right from town and I wanted to finally spend the night. I was pleasantly surprised to find this Inn. I had a wonderful stay. I arrived, parked in their driveway and took a 4 hour road ride to the coast and return. I was pleasantly greeted by Marilyn for my check in and she wished me a very nice birthday. I moved into my overnight room and love that the gas fireplace is the only heat. I had a lovely deck off my room. I enjoyed wine night in their quaint dining and living space - also fireside. COVID restrictions fully enforced. I bought take out Italian at Negris in town and took it back to my room. The next morning I called in our take out breakfast - I was given my own carafe of coffee, creams, etc. The breakfast was pretty stellar for being served COVID style. I was impressed. Saved my beignet for lunch as the breakfast of poached egg and hollaindase, waffle with their special apple syrup was quite filling. I would have given my stay 5 stars except the mattress needs full replacement. The linens were lovely, but couldn't hide the mattress divets. As it was my 50th birthday - bed quality becomes paramount when traveling!! My shower also turned cold for about 2 minutes mid-shower. Luckily I waited to turn it off entirely as the heat did come back on. But this can be switched out at a plumbing level - and should be. At full price accommodations, this shouldn't be an issue. Otherwise - my stay was really lovely and the Inn made it extra special. My birthday flowers and little note were a sweet little touch. And love the painting and cute desk and other details in the studios. My studio was quite spacious.

Great getaway during this Covid time My family and I needed a getaway from the city, and we were lucky enough to find this place last minute....by last minute, I mean the day before our check-in, and I highly appreciate the inn taking us with this last minute booking. We had the Sonoma cottage, which was really a house on its own that provided space for family to gather. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 kids, and the staff was nice enough to get everything set up (which is not always the case with pull-out couch if you need to use it). The entire experience was great - staff was amazing. We were first greeted by Mike (on his first day!) who was super nice, and then Marilyn helped us check in with tons of great recommendations. The staff in the morning (sorry do not have the names) was also super helpful - it can be busy with limited staff, but they went above and beyond bringing the boxed food to our front porch! The portion of breakfast was huge (not sure why other review says skimpy...). We each had sausage scrambled egg, beignet and yogurt & fruit parfait on the first day, and then benedict, scone and parfait on the second day. I think the breakfast was really good. As to activities, there's farmer's market on Fridays. We got great fruits and enjoyed food there. The restaurants in town are limited but the food we had was great. We spent the day at beaches and trails along the bodega bay and also russian river. So great location to explore the area. We would've planned for a return trip already, but the glass fire broke out right after we left. Can't wait to return while things go back to a bit more normal!

Great getaway Have been here several times over the years. Great getaway. Usually in December but did September this year and loved the warm weather and ability to take advantage of outside sitting areas. Marilyn at the desk is fantastic...she alone is 5 star! Delicious breakfast. And this year the processes to stay safe and clean among the COVID pandemic were very good.
