Northwoods Charm with an absolutely enormous hot tub I stayed here for three nights for a family reunion. Check-in was fast and easy even when I arrived at this hotel at 2:30 A.M. Upon entering the hotel I loved the Northwoods themed decor and my room's proximity to the ice maker on the 3rd floor. The beds were really comfortable, not too firm or not to soft as were the pillows. Breakfast wise the breakfast spread was pretty decent, I especially liked how they had a flapjack maker which I like over the more common Belgian waffle irons since they take less time to cook. Of course the biggest draw for me and choosing this hotel was the indoor/outdoor swimming pool area. The swimming pool was the only thing that was indoor/outdoor and was really decent, the hot tub on the other hand was indoor only and was absolutely enormous. It was so large you could really almost call it a second swimming pool especially since at one end the hot tub was 2 feet 8 inches deep and went down to 3 feet deep, whereas the indoor/outdoor swimming pool only went down to 5 feet deep in the middle where the pool narrows to near the wall between the indoor section and outdoor sections. In general I really liked this hotel, It is a hotel that is wildly different (some pun intended.) from the more boring boxes off the freeway in Onalaska. I will definitely be back again.

Outdated This place is in desperate need of a remodel. We had a pretty large, king room with a jetted tub. First of all, the lighting is bad. Maybe this is part of the theme, which is fine if you don’t have to put makeup on. Next, there is a small 19” TV in this large room. In addition, there is no sound proofing. Finally the bed is so springy, it shook a lot every time one of us barely moved. With the $200/ night price, I won’t be staying here again unless they update it.

Sorely Disappointed - In Need of Serious Maintenance We had a one-night stay as part of a family road trip around Minnesota and western Wisconsin. We previously lived in the La Crosse area and always heard great things about Stoney Creek, so we were excited to stay here. Overall, we were extremely disappointed and frankly, parts of the property and our room could only be described as gross. Our two-bed room on the lower level had mold on the ceiling, peeling wallpaper, and a musty smell. The bathroom door would not close unless you put your shoulder into it. The room felt very damp. The kids were excited for the pool - the pool area was absolutely disgusting. It’s an “indoor-outdoor pool,” but the indoor pool area had large spiders all over the walls, and there were three frogs and all sorts of bugs swimming around the indoor part of the pool (we rescued the frogs and put them outside). The water felt slimy and clearly is not being treated at appropriate levels if frogs were swimming around living their best life. At checkout, we were not even asked how our stay was. It is very clear maintenance/upkeep is not a priority here. Even outside, all of the landscaping is overrun with weeds. For $210 for one night, this was an awful experience. We would not return.

Hair in shower...no thanks! Got a call Friday night before our stay saying pool and hot tub will be closed. When I got to hotel I asked for an upgrade to hot tub room since the main one and pool were closed. The rooms were close to 250.00 per night this past weekend. First, the Tv is about 32 inches and is clear across the room. We got back later than expected from boat cruise and were exhausted. Very limited parking and we did find one handicapped spot left and we took it as we have handicap tag. Shower in the morning, open the curtain only to find a huge clump.of hair stuck to the wall of the seat in the shower. Dead mosquitos all over the room and lounge chair was beyond used. The cushion was shoved down the side as soon as you sat in it. Wall paper and ceiling peeling throughout the room. All this and they only took 15% off. Said that was all she could do. Maybe dont charge 250.00 for a room in this condition. Went to leave and someone parked about 6 inches from the driver side of our truck in the lined off area next to the handicaped spot. I went in to see if they could help us and they said sorry, parking is limited. We had to crawl in passenger side...we most likely would not stay here again.

Husband and I stayed at Stoney Creek and will definitely stay again! Courteous and helpful staff. Rooms were designed so cozy and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Nicely equipped fitness center. Breakfast was more than a continental breakfast, biscuits and gray, scrambled eggs and plenty more. Will definitely go back when in area.
