I felt like I was in a dream! Casey and her family absolutely rolled out the red carpet for us during our stay at Mayhurst. My daughter and I attended the Storyteller's Retreat, and we were blown away by the warm hospitality and the attention to every detail. The Cashells thought of everything you could possibly imagine for a restful retreat away from home: from the gourmet self-serve coffee from the fanciest coffee maker you've ever seen, to the beautufully decorated Victorian rooms, (wallpaper and fireplaces, sigh!) to the goats, and to the access to the gorgeous peaceful property that Mayhurst sits on. No detail was left unnoticed. I felt like I walked back in time, standing where Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and James Madison have tread. (Goosebumps!) I can't wait to go back and can't recommend this amazing historic property more! You will not be disappointed!

Almost Indescribable. Our experience at the Mayhurst Inn is almost indescribable. This beautiful home, built by President James Madison's nephew, exudes a sense of peace, refinement, history, and hospitality that can only be attributed to the new owners Jason and Casey. Thank you for your exquisite hospitality. Thank you for the irresistible breakfasts. And thank you for all the work you are doing to restore and preserve this marvelous estate. We've already booked our return visit.

Peaceful, tranquil and refreshing If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, Mayhurst is the place to go. Step back in time and enjoy the elegance of the beautiful estate. . The grounds are beautiful and sitting on the back porch listening to the birds sing is pure tranquility. I cannot say enough about Emma, the executive director. She was always near to make sure our stay met all our expectations and more. Each breakfast for our 4 day stay was not only delicious but presented beautifully. Looking forward going back.

A Lovely Piece of History in Central Virginia We stayed at the Mayhurst Inn over a weekend in June with a group of friends for a nearby wedding. The Inn is well-located just off Route 15 and is convenient to many of the area's wineries and scenic attractions. We very much appreciated the breakfasts -- they were a delight -- as well as the innkeepers' attention to detail. 24 hour coffee, tea and ice water service was a lovely touch. The grounds offer a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of normal life. We would definitely stay here again.

A peaceful and beautiful historic Inn with great hospitality. Mayhurst Inn is a wonderful pre- civil war estate located on a beautiful and private expansive property with large grass lawns and many old growth trees. The room was well decorated and very comfortable. It was wonderfully quiet and peaceful inside the home and on the property. The soft background music in the lobby was very relaxing and the Jura coffee machine made great coffee. Breakfast is made to order and delicious. There is a large outdoor covered terrace on the second floor with many comfortable sitting areas that overlook an inviting large patio courtyard in the yard below. We were there for business so we did not have time to enjoy the estate to the fullest but hope to return. The staff are exceedingly friendly and want to make your stay the best. I think you will enjoy Mayhurst.
