The good and the bad Have stayed here several times before over the years. It is in a great location adjoined to the Rideau Centre, beside the canal and close to most things you’d want to see on a site seeing trip. I got a good deal here on two rooms through a transparent booking site and was expecting a similar experience. The staff were great and happy to give us our bedding preferences and adjacent rooms. The elevator system was well organized for security and COVID safe. The rooms we had on the 15th floor were disappointing though. First issue was that one of the rooms was hot and the A/C didn’t work. I had to wait for a maintenance guy to arrive and check it out before I was given another room. The rooms themselves are old and tired and the cleanliness not what I expect from this class of hotel. The cream coloured chairs were all badly stained (see photo) and we had 2 in one room and only one in the other. The beds were great, though. Unless this hotel is renovated, I would hesitate to stay here again.

Pleasant stay This was our first visit to the Westin in Ottawa and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect having the Rideau Centre mall next door and being just a couple of minutes walk from the Parliament Hill, ByWard Market and other amenities. We booked a Superior Room with the city view? But got upgraded to the Parliament view for only $35 for the entire stay. The staff at the reception was very nice and professional. Our stay also included a credit at Daly’s Express, so we took advantage of the breakfast. It was very nice to be able to grab the breakfast at the hotel instead of going outside, give that all indoor dining spaces are still closed. All of the ladies working at Daly’s were really polite. The guys at valet parking were also great and friendly. Every time we needed our car they would have it ready before we got downstairs and every time they would offers us water to bring along, which came very handy when we went to Gatineau Park. The hotel does not offer cleaning service, but when we needed extra toilet paper, tissues and change of towels, it was promptly delivered to our room. Our room was located on the 19th floor and it was pretty quiet. It is also to be noted that hotel was probably at 30% capacity. All premisses were clean and the staff did their best to accommodate everyone’s needs. Unfortunately the area around the hotel was not very nice. It was full of homeless people, which we found very heartbreaking. There was trash scattered all over and we never saw anyone cleaning the streets. There was also an u pleasant smell during hot days. We will definitely consider going back, hoping that soon we can enjoy all amenities.

Very nice hotel We had a very short one night stay. the hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Parking was on-site which is very nice. COVID time period so we could not really use all the hotels amenities. This is the 3rd hotel we've stayed at in Ottawa in the last 6 months. For the price it is an excellent choice.

Covid Weekend Party Hotel. I have to travel to Ottawa occasionally during COVID. I always stay at the Westin. This was the first time i had to stay over a weekend and I will never do it again. People from Montreal and other near by areas are travelling here to party with friends over the weekend. I was kept up all night on Friday and Saturday as the party happened all night. People were sitting in the hall way, no masks on, drinking. The rooms had sometimes 10 people in them. Garbage piled up in hallway. The staff said they cant do much, they need the business. I actually just left the hotel early. Felt really unsafe. Not the usual experience. Very disappointed in the GM allowing this happen. Marriott should do something. It was fine and safe before the weekend. But then changed.

Fantastic stay Stayed at their junior suite. Due to COVID restrictions, there was no daily housekeeping or usage of their pool/gym facilities. There is room service available. The check in was easy and the staff were very nice! The room was spacious although it could use a few upgrades. The hotel is connected to the Rideau Center. It is within 5 mins walk to Byward market and the Parliament. I would definitely stay here again!
