Amenities and Service Declining My parents have been coming here for over two decades, sometimes for conferences but mostly for family getaways. While the location is still incredible, the accommodations and service have declined significantly over the years. This past weekend I came here with my mother, wife, and our 3yo son. When we were looking for my son's car before leaving, my wife found a syringe/needle under one of the cabinets in the main living room of our cottage (see attached pics) This is incredibly disturbing, especially when traveling with a small child. Not only is this extremely dangerous, but it is also a reflection of the uncleanliness and lack of attention to basic housekeeping standards. The manager at the front desk responded with complete indifference when we checked out and showed her these pictures. My mother was quite saddened by this experience as this has usually been a place of nostalgia and positive memories for our family. Be very cautious coming here

Please invest in upkeep and maintenance This is a great place and understood lodging was rustic. My only complaint is the lights in the room have some switches missing so you turn off by loosening the light bulb. Very few outlets for a family who wants tho charge their devices. Sink missing a stopper and toilet needs to be replaced they jerryigged it and after flush the water runs continuously sometimes. Too much cutting corners on upkeep and maintenance. Light on corner of building is out so hard to see where walking at night. Beyond that enjoyed my stay.

Great time so far Beds were very comfortable and room was spacious. Breakfast was a wonderful experience - lots of good food, plus we met several very interesting people at our table. I loved being able to walk to the beach to watch the sunset. Only frustration was their wifi wasn't working in our area the first night.

Average, uninspiring room, Lovely coastal dunes boardwalk Average, uninspiring but only scratched surface i think. Stayed 1 night on a road trip, where we wanted to stay in monterrey area at a reasonable price. I suspect there is far more here than just a basic room in what seemed like multiple conference facilities - but was happy in just delivering the simple room on the coast. booked standard room, and it delivered as advertised a basic comfortable room, with few amenities no tv, but working low speed wifi. Had a balcony with an uninspiring view of other hotel buildings and a tree, but it was quiet and enjoyed sitting out for a while. The whole resort felt like a sprawling complex, and the one way road system was far from logical, but after checking in, with a map easy enough to drive to room, and park just outside. The complex is walkable with a 5 min walk back to the central buildings including a nice spacious lobby lounge with comfortable arm chairs, and small shop selling deli end snacks and lovely fresh coffee. We didnt go to dinner as there was only a 1 hour window time which didnt suit, and seemed overpriced for the description so ate own food in the room. The highlight was the dunes boardwalk connected to the grounds through the state park/natural preserve and we spent a pleasant hour, doing the short walk to the beach over the dunes, sitting on the numerous benches and enjoying the evening in a natural surrounding. overall i wouldnt rush to return, but it was a decent price for a basic room close to the beach, and after visiting cannery row during the day was glad had stayed away somewhere quiet.

Relaxing, quiet and pleasant with great access to beach and trails. Room is clean well appointed everything works. I’ve stayed here many times and there is allot of variation in the rooms. If you can, opt for a room with a view. Spindrift South is a good option. It’s a short walk through the dunes to the beach and various trails. Relaxing, quiet and pleasant
