Beware Where to start. I booked this property back in January for a July 2021 stay so that our kids could enjoy Loggerhead Marine Life Sea Turtle camp. (If your kids are into that kind of thing, it's a great camp so far, btw.) It was a bit of drive up the coast, but we wanted to stay at a Marriott, use our points, have a place with a lot of kid-friendly options for after camp, etc. This property was a no-brainer, until it wasn't. First, I blame myself for not having read more reviews of this place before booking. I am a Marriott Platinum Elite Bonvoy member. We run all our purchases through the Amex Bonvoy Card, just so we can use points to stay at great properties. Suffice it to say we are canceling our Marriott card when we get home; it was a really bad experience. And to headline it: This is not a "Luxury Vacation Resort in Palm Beach" (as it is listed by Marriott on Google). Far from it. Next, this is a Marriott Vacation Club property. It says so all over the website, etc. I just had no idea what the impact of that would be on regular Marriott guests, even with Bonvoy status, like me. I got an e-mail from Marriott about 3 weeks before arriving that included the following: "Room Location – We are expecting high occupancy of homeowners during your vacation with us. While we hope you enjoy your time with us, please be aware that your room will be on a low floor and/or have limited/obstructed view." This is after I had reserved a 2 bedroom suite with an ocean view. Well, they weren't lying. If you look at the stock photo of the Marriott property our room was at the far end of the property, and we had a clear view of the intercoastal and jetty that is on the other side of the building looking south. Note that the bar and the pool is located on that side as well, so we were actually looking at that before a view of the intercoastal, but that turned out to be a small issue. When we checked in, it seemed like we would be far away from the main buildings in the resort, but I didn't say anything (see the map I was given attached). I wanted to check it out first, big mistake. It is quite a hike (20 mins by beach actually) with two kids - 6 and 7 years old - from the main building down to the Kingfish (each of the buildings has a name, and this was ours). I immediately hopped in the car, and drove back and begged for a new room. Begged. Told them I would downgrade for a few days until another big suite was available. Anything. Well, because of high occupancy of owners, there was nothing. But here's the thing - what they didn't say until I probed was that the "homeowners" - this is a time share - get first dibs on property selection, so vacationers like us - get relegated to the least attractive options. And aren't told in advance what building you'll be in, where your room will be, what the view will be, etc. Ours was by no means an "Oceanview" by the way. Hence the title of this post - Beware. Just know what you're getting into with this. Moreover, the bar that services the Kingfish was closed. There was standing water everywhere. It looked like an afterthought, as much as it felt like an afterthought. So what did we do? We canceled the rest of the trip, and moved north to Jupiter, and are staying at the Jupiter Beach and Resort. It's actually been a great experience, and perhaps there are some areas of the room/hotel that need updating, but because of how our trip started, this place is amazing. From customer service to the quality of the pool/bar and the surrounding area, this place is far better than the Marriott. Sucks we had to find that out the hard way. The end of the story - First, the Marriott Day Manager called me directly after learning we had checked out early and canceled the remainder of our trip. He could not have been more polite and understanding. Didn't make excuses, and offered to do something to get us back to the hotel. I declined, but have to give him credit for being so generous and making the effort. So, for those of you who know what you're getting into with the Marriott Vacation Club properties, have at it. I will NEVER put myself in this position again. Our vacation got off to a miserable start and was only redeemed by dumb luck (in finding the place we are currently at). We would have been miserable staying at this place for a week. Hope this helps a few of you avoid getting into the same situation.

Good to be back! We have been coming to Ocean Pointe for about 17 years and originally were owners of a timeshare here. When we bought the resort was only 2 buildings. Now it has grown to 4 buildings and they have added a ton of activities for the kids and adults. One small glitch at check in as the room was not ready at 4pm. They said they were short staffed (which they were) and that the cleaning staff was trying their best to get the rooms ready. They let us take our luggage up to the side of the room that was done while the main unit was being cleaned. That was a nice accomodation. The place was very clean and the crowd was friendly with a mix of young children and teens. The beach at Ocean Pointe is the best on the east coast of Florida and the water was about 82 degrees everyday. My only complaint and this is no fault of the resort is that they need more than 1 person running drinks at the pool. You can say "hire more people" but one of the staff confirmed that nobody wants to work because they "are all home collecting unemployment checks and COVID stimulus checks." Not the resorts fault. All and all a great strip and will definitely return and reccommend to others.

Check in/out experience terrible, but in between was OK. Check in was at 2:00pm, but adjusted to 4:00 pm due to Covid restrictions. We had 2 2-bedroom suites booked. One was ready at 4:30 but the other not until nearly 6:00. We were able to use the facilities in the meantime, but that was difficult as changng into swimsuits is challenging without a room, especially when your luggage is being held at the front desk. When our rooms were finally ready, on two different floors (we heard stories of families being separated into two different buildings so we considered ourselves lucky), we only had time for dinner and a nighttime walk on the beach. Day 1 wasted. The next few days were OK, even though the weather did not cooperate very much, but this is definitely not a luxury resort, as described. The rooms were mostly sufficient, but the property was a little run down and many of the amenities were unavailable, though this was mostly due to Covid restrictions so I can't blame the hotel. When it came time to check out, they were insistent that we be out by 10:00am, after being hours late with our check in. They eventuually conceded an hour and allowed some of us, but not all of us to check out at 11:00. They were knocking on the door at 10:00 however, making sure we were getting ready to leave. We were able to enjoy ourselves, but it was not the experience we expected.

Vacation in west palm beach. Marriott never disappoints this place is outstanding. We did a exchange thru interval international and have a one bedroom. Room has been updated w/ stainless steel appliance. All services are in full effect. No complaint. I love the way you can be at poolside or go out to the ocean and enjoy the beach if you prefer.

Definitely not a luxury resort! This is hardly a luxury hotel as hotels.com describes. This is an older property that is geared for family entertainment and admittedly there is plenty. So families enjoy! Marriot lured us there for a vacation club presentation; If you are traveling as a couple don't go there. If are used to luxury don't go there. If they tell you that one room will accommodate 4 people, it won't. Rooms are tiny, bathrooms are tiny. It is near impossible to maneuver the coffee pot much less prepare a meal on the postage stamp size counter, because, here it comes... (!) There is not even one restaurant on property. There is a pool bar that serves food you would eat by the pool and a "marketplace" that cooks pizza and makes smoothies. Unfortunately, the"marketplace" was manned by one person who took orders, made the smoothies, dished out once cream and managed the Register and lines were out the door. Here's to you smoothie maker for keeping your cool. Needless to say, there is no Room service. The lamps were a mishmosh of furnishings, and if you are used to having something as simple as a phone charging port, forget it. And finally, at the time we were there, west palm beach was under a drinking water advisory. Do you think we found bottled water in the room? No. I'm afraid it was to be found only at the marketplace at resort price. Please remember too, if you want to swim, go to the beach. The pools are full of children...
