A perfect stay The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the staff is very attentive all of which contribute to the higher cost of a stay here. That being said if you want a 5 star experience I can’t think of a better place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to returning in the near future.

No fresh air in beautiful SoCal - yuck This is a nice place but also weird. The windows in the rooms are completely bolted shut - like you can't even open them 1/2 inch - and when I got to my room the heat was on and it was blowing hot air and sweltering. The combination of bolted windows and blowing hot made the room feel claustrophobic and musty, but there was also a cloying fragrance that had been sprayed to mask it. Yuck. It seemed so weird for the beautiful Southern California climate.

Lovely but large! This is a beautiful and really lovely hotel. On checking in one is handed a map of the hotel and grounds which is needed because it is a huge site with beautiful gardens. Our room was pleasant and comfortable with every amenity - but it was somewhat stayed and old fashioned. We ate a delicious burger lunch on the Terrace. The staff throughout were pleasant and helpful. The valet service worked well but an additional bonus was the free of charge town car service where (if free of another duty) the hotel would drive you within a 3 mile radius.

Unbelievably disappointing DO NOT let the brand name, the rates, or the deals trick you like they tricked me - this property is in DESPERATE need of a major renovation (as the front desk staff will readily admit). I booked a 3-day stay through Ax Fine Hotels. I've stayed at a Langham property before. They put me in one room, I asked for a different room, and it was barely better. Both rooms were both damp, musty, and loud. The hallways smell and the carpets in and out of the rooms are dirty and dingy. The bathrooms are tired and old and one of them had stains in the tub. The second room had a beat-up dorm fridge prominently displayed. There is so much chlorine in the pool that you can smell it from 50 yards away. From a 6th floor room with the windows closed, i could hear kids playing outside. The manager could not even be bothered to speak with me in person. I left less than an hour after arriving, and was told that I was not going to be charged - but what do I see this morning - an attempted room charge. The only positive thing about the property is the non-management staff. They are lovely, want to be helpful, and deserve a better property and better management than this.
