Rushed Golf Some friends and I went to Myrtle Beach in mid-February 2022. We played at 4 courses; Pawley's was the last course we played. We arrived on time, and hit at the range. We went out on time, and all was going well. The marshal told us that as much as we'd like 1-9, we'd love 10-18 because of the unique holes and the closeness to the ocean. We saw the marshal a few times, and at the beginning of the 5th hole, he told us that no one was behind us; in fact, the next scheduled tee time was 1230. Since it was our last day, and out last course, we slowed down a bit and really enjoyed the rest of the first 9. We came off the 9th green around 1215 and were immediately greeted by the same marshal. He told us that we needed to be off the number 10 green no later than 1230 because there was a "shotgun start" beginning at that time. We hurriedly went into the Pro Shop for a break and to grab a few drinks (the drink cart never appeared on the first 9), and then went to the 10th tee, where the marshal watched us tee off. We finished 10 then moved to 11, under the watchful eyes of the same marshal. We were playing very quickly, and as we went down 11 (time was about 1235) all of a sudden there was a group of people behind us, hitting down the course. There was no "shotgun", they were just there. By 13, they had caught up to us, driving up as we hit off the tee. As we finished 13 and walked off the green, they hit to the green and as we were writing our scores down, one of them said, "Get moving." The rest of that side went the same exact way. We played very quickly, and had a very unenjoyable time because of it. We considered letting them play through, but had no idea how many other groups were behind them. We never saw the marshal, there was no one managing play, just the people behind us, right on us for the rest of play. After 18, one of our group went into the shop and the "pro's" attitude essentially was, "who cares?" Only when a second person went in did the person behind the counter offer anything, in this case "a free 9 holes" the next time we were there. An apology was never offered, and there was no indication anyone was sorry for anything. The first 9 was great. The much-lauded back 9 was not enjoyable at all. We've talked about another trip, and if we return to MB, we will not return to Pawley's.

Good course, slow day This review is from the perspective of a low handicapper. Hopefully this will be of help as Pawleys Plantation is as breathtaking as it is is difficult. Pros Course is well conditioned though in my round, the Bermuda grass was in transition to rye. Fringes were a little furry and greens were not as fast as they could be. They were resort average. They were all small like a typical Nicklaus course. Sand was smooth and consistent and layout was overall impressive. Especially on the back 9. Fairways were soft but we could ride our carts on them. Greens held nicely. Good practice area and generally friendly clubhouse staff. Cons The 9th hole is ridiculous. Why Jack Nicklaus would stick a big fat tree in the middle of the fairway is beyond me. The hole is tough enough with OB, narrow fairways and an undulating green with a false front. Pro shop staff was kind of indifferent. Pace of play was slow too. I got paired with a single and we later joined with another twosome that as it turns out was slow. It took us 4:40 to finish. Also while they didn’t bother me, the average golfer might find some holes nearly impossible. No 17 for instance requires a mid iron over marsh to a shallow bulk headed green. Range balls were included in the green fee but you only got like 15 balls.

Filthy Unit 19D was the most vile, disgusting place I’ve ever stayed. Couldn’t sit on chairs or sofas without covering with towels; porch filthy. Bathroom so gross I gagged when I saw the toilet brush holder filled with brown water. Shame because Caledonia is lovely

Dirty, outdated, bug infested, poor customer service Stayed 2 weeks (9/14/20 - 9/25/20) in 14-1A. No time to find alternate accommodations as we had 20 tee times scheduled over a 10 day period. Cob webs on fixtures. Pans in cabinets with grease in them. Blender base but no blender container? Dead cockroaches found in bathroom and bedroom; live cockroaches in living room and bathroom. Last night there we found a bug crawling on my partners leg when laying in bed. Toaster caught on fire....literal flames. Luckily I was standing nearby and extinguished it in the sink. Called Litchfield front desk (they manage the condo rentals) to let them know and their response was, "Okay...." As though she was waiting for me to say something important. I asked if they could get us a new one and she said she would try. We never heard from them again and we did not receive a new toaster. Carpets stained, furniture outdated. Dresser falling apart and drawers fall out. Blinds missing slats and won't turn open. And while they stated on their paper that there would be a coffee starter pack, there was not. That's all I can think of. I would not stay there again. However, the COURSE and COURSE STAFF were amazing!! The starter, Darrell, was top notch! We really enjoyed playing there.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE The room is extremely small, definitely not big enough for four people. The pictures are very deceiving. It is supposed to have two king size beds in it and they are definitely full size beds. The decor is very old and the room smells very bad, like old smoke. No cable, No WiFi it’s very dusty and the carpet is nasty. The phone isn’t working and the bathroom has hair all over it. Their are stains on the walls. On the website allows you to pay a “deposit” when booking but when you come in they ask for another $250.00 “deposit”. The room is cheap for a reason.... and it’s not good. My family and I care into town to celebrate our kids graduation and this is really upsetting. And the room has roaches in it.
