Avoid Breakfast at this Hotel My wife and I had an overall OK stay at the hotel. The only issue we had was with breakfast in the lobby. We are seasoned travelers, and we have never encountered the delays and confusion we saw at the Ritz anywhere else in the world. Breakfast should be a straightforward process. It wasn't. We waited an hour and twenty minutes to receive scrambled eggs. That, in anyone's book, is unacceptable. Part of the delay, they claimed, was the 'fact' we needed reservations (even though we were staying at the hotel, and not all tables were taken). This resulted in a 20 minute wait where we were offered two mimosas as we waited. The biggest offense was finding out at the end that the mimosas were actually charged - one would have thought this was complimentary to compensate for the service. This breakfast experience alone will deter me from staying at this hotel since I had to cancel a walking tour I was late for. Again, scrambled eggs don't take that long when there are only 4 other tables occupied.

Meh The lobby is stunning, the bartenders were outstanding, and the room was clean. The beds were comfortable too. I am in the hotel business, and I could tell that staffing here is an issue...when I pulled up after a long drive, there were some guys leaning on the hotel columns looking at their phones. Turned out they were the valets. Once I got their attention, they took my luggage out and parked the car. The receptionist was a bit of a wet blanket - just looked at us instead of greeting us and asking how we could be helped. There was no turn-down service (covid?) and the room was small. Upon checkout, the same attitude at reception and over 40 minutes to wait for our car. We waited in the lobby/bar area where some were eating breakfast, and probably would have had a coffee or something, but no one ever approached. On our Saturday night there, the lobby was very full. We approached the bar only to have a staff member tell us they were swamped and he couldn't seat us. We explained we just wanted drinks so he said that was ok. We found a spot to sit and watched tables sit unattended and food/dishes not cleared away for the entire two hours we were there. Thankfully the bartender was excellent and we enjoyed our little corner. We are quiet middle aged ladies so I don't think we were treated poorly because of appearances, rather I think hiring in Philadelphia must be tough right now. Still, with the Ritz usually one of the gold standards of the industry, this property really needs to train its staff better and deliver the services we expect. I was pretty disappointed.

Beautiful lobby and well appointed rooms We stayed here for an overnight visit to Philly in a connecting rooms. We had a king and 2 doubles connected with an 'outer' door so it was nice to have a small foyer space. They could not guarantee connecting rooms before arrival but the check-in receptionist spent some time making it work. We were able to get into the 2 double room by 10am. The 2nd room (King) was still occupied so we were texted at 1pm when the other room was ready. It was great to have access to at least one room to freshen up and put our bags in. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and well appointed. Love the gorgeous lobby and the location is great. Easy walk to so many excellent restaurants and shopping. Overall a great stay except for 2 suggestions. I went to the concierge to get a room key and they gave it to me without asking for any identification - perhaps a onetime mishap but really made me wary of the security. 2nd issue was we waited an entire HOUR for our car from Valet. I called from my room, was downstairs 30 minutes later and still waited another 30 minutes. The valet people were not helpful or apologetic. They had many weddings checking out that day which was why there was a long wait. It was all computerized though so why not warn us that there are 19 cars ahead of me so I can plan my time better?

Not great if you arrive by car Things started badly — there is no parking or valet area, so we had to double-park in the street in front of the hotel. No valet or bell team to be seen, which seems to be a major failing if your guests are unloading in the street. Finally a valet showed up, and very reluctantly took our bags. The reception desk staff was great — as was the room service team. Otherwise, the hotel felt pretty impersonal.

Typical Marriot Ritz has become a disaster cheap garbage I had a reservation booked at this once 5 star resort then Jordan Kaley emails me they won't do turndown service. I have stayed at this location before but saw the decline in staff and rudeness. Never again. Stay away.
