Great location - but that's it. The rooms lacked functionality despite being spacious and offering scenic views. There were not enough hooks for towels or places to store clothing. Drawer space was minimal, the closet had very few hangers, and some of the furniture was noticeably worn. Screens were broken, and we even found sticky, chewy substances on the ceiling and curtains—definitely not what you’d expect at this price point. Be aware that there is no housekeeping during your stay, no breakfast included, and parking now incurs an additional fee (as of January). While basic WiFi is free, you’ll need to pay extra for faster service. Even the bottled water in the room is $5, and a basic s’mores kit runs $15. Considering the already higher nightly rates compared to similar properties, it really starts to feel like you’re being nickel-and-dimed. To top it off, we started receiving check-out reminders every 15 minutes beginning at 9:00 am—even though check-out isn’t until 11:00. This felt intrusive and unwelcoming. While the property is part of the Pacifica Hotels Group, the overall guest experience and service level didn’t align with our expectations based on stays at other Pacifica properties. Unfortunately, our stay was also disrupted by loud, partying guests, which impacted our ability to relax.

Beautiful views, comfortable room, and nice walking path along the cliffs I stayed here in the past, and had enjoyed my stay, so was looking it up again for a possible return trip. I originally was a little reluctant to book this hotel, as at the time, there were some negative reviews, but all of the hotels usually have some negative reviews, and this one was a bit more affordable, and looked to have nice views. We ended up being happy with our room. We loved our view of the ocean! There was a ramp to the 2nd floor, so those with walkers or wheelchairs could still access it. (Assuming it hasn't been remodeled in construction). I loved the restaurant that was attached; there was a beautiful dolphin statue between the restaurant and the ocean, which added to your seaside ambiance. Sadly, it appears that the restaurant has closed. There were fire pits outside, and other seating, as well as a path that runs along the cliffs, and along the long line of hotels facing the ocean, making a nice, easy walking path, with views of the sea, as well as checking out the other hotels and restaurants along the way. This hotel was in my consideration for a return visit. It is worth checking out, if planning to stay in the area.

DISGUSTING! I was disgusted after our stay here. We decided to stay an extra night in pismo & looked for a last minute hotel, we paid $265 for a room here. Upon getting into our room, I went to put leftovers in the fridge, to which I found an old, moldy Starbucks cup. After throwing it away I went outside to the patio, where I was greeted by a smelly baggie of poop…. Even though they’re not pet friendly, there was a small dog next door to us, and a husky above us. We could hear the little dog ALL night. Went to bath my child, when I found black mold in the grout in the shower. We skipped bath time and waited until we got home. I seriously felt like I paid $20 to stay in a bum motel, but I actually paid a very high amount for a “luxury” hotel. Disgusted doesn’t even scratch the surface, we will never be back here. Asking to switch rooms wasn’t an option either, I overheard them say they were sold out to another guest who was upset about their room.

Awesome stay Awesome stay. The Spyglass Inn is a beautiful hotel. Definitely recommend staying in the ocean front side rooms. We love the Pismo/Shell Beach area as there are lots of good restaurants, beautiful sights and great hiking trails. We plan to come back again soon!

Dated and in Disrepair This is our second stay here, first time 10 years ago. First, the ocean view from second floor is spectacular. The property and grounds are lovely and well maintained. The hotel room is a different story, poorly maintained and in desperate need of remodel and redecorating. Furniture is uncomfortable, mismatched and cheap, carpeting needs to be replaced, not relaxing at all. Step landings have holes and are a trip hazard. The hotel is expensive with added fees.
