Hard sell and long dinner queues. 10 of us stayed at The Fives in Aug 2024 at a time when the hotel did not take bookings for its various restaurants. This ‘no booking’ policy caused long queues, anger that ‘beepers’ didn’t work and families eating very late. In addition, the food was generally quite poor. Worst of all was the Thai restaurant where it was clear that nobody involved had ever been to Thailand nor eaten any Thai food. A green curry was more reminiscent of a bland herb soup. The main, breakfast buffet was generally very good and the waiting staff are lovely. Bars were well run and quick. The pools are very shallow and with heavy traffic, a sheen of sun creamoil quickly develops. Bizarrely, lots of people seem to think it acceptable to eat burgers whilst in the pool. Don’t be surprised if you swim past a gherkin or two. Yuck! The ‘hard sell’ starts as soon as you arrive. Upgrade your room for $1,000? I wouldn’t if I were you. Also, you are offered excursion discounts (a complicated system of letters and coupons) if you subject yourself to a ‘time share like’ sales meeting for some sort of holiday discount offering. One of our group went through the process and still, to this day, can’t explain the offering to you. They wanted £15,000 there and then with no sight of a contract, website or brochures. AVOID!

Unforgettable Memories 2018, my family and I had a fantastic trip to the Fives Hotel and Residences. We were pleased with everything about the resort ❤️. Our second trip to the Fives in August 2024 was so memorable. My daughter and I travelled to the Fives for our first girl’s trip, and the Fives didn’t disappoint us. Once again, they had excellent food, gym, spa, many pools around the property, drinks and fantastic lunch options. We met there with a big dance group, so our dinners were extra special, and the service was exceptional. My favourite restaurant was the Mexican night. After dinner, we all headed to the main plaza and had some fun before returning to our quiet and comfortable room to rest. The Fives is a great place to relax and have fun.

Best service EVER! My family and I visited The Fives Beach location earlier this month. We were there with our dance studio team so we were a group of about 50 people! The service was absolutely outstanding! From accommodating our large group, to quick responses from front desk if we needed something for our room, to following up AFTER they addressed our request….the service was better than any resort we’ve ever been to. The hotel rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean! The cleaning staff were quick and thorough every day. Food was amazing too! Tons of options to accommodate picky eaters and adults. Pools and views were beautiful too. The infinity pool looks out over the beach and it was stunning. There are a lot of smaller pools around the resort too in case you want a little quieter setting. Overall, vacation was amazing. Highly recommend this resort! Thank you to all the staff that made our trip one to remember!

The Fives Knocked It Out of the Park The Fives sincerely exceeded my expectations and those of my family. The welcome and check-in process was a breeze. We were settled and in our room in less than 20 minutes, and that was after a thorough review of the grounds. Traveling with a family of 6 (4 teenage boys) makes for some challenging room options. The suite we got at The Fives was perfect. One entry way for everyone, but separate rooms for my wife & I and the boys. Just the right amount of privacy without needing to get fully separated rooms. The whole suite was clean and spacious, with multiple balconies and a killer view of one of the pools. Typically something I feel like people have to pay extra for we were granted as part of our stay. It was refreshing to have the room tidied up and the beds made on a daily basis without having to request. The only knock I can come up with here is that one of the bathrooms was locked until about 2 days before we departed. We didn't even know what was behind the door! The staff was probably the star of the show. Everyone, and I mean, every single person's path we crossed was polite, attentive and genuinely seemed to care about our well-being. I can only surmise this is a positive work environment. It certainly reflected in how they treated the guests from my experience. The restaurants were solid. The two breakfast options were packed with options, but nearly mirror images in their offerings. Some more variety there would have been nice. I really liked the variety of choices when it came to dinner options. We rarely had a long wait, even for a larger party. I think there was only one evening we had to wait an hour or so and it was in the thick of the rush. I really enjoyed the fresh/snack options out in the plaza. Freshly prepared throughout the day for anyone to just walk-up and grab. Had some of my favorite tastes at that spot. The drinks were kind of hit/miss. The quality was negligible depending on where you got it serviced from. The 1920 bar though was something we discovered later, and I wish we had ventured over there earlier. The cocktails there were on another level than the rest. Honestly, I felt the need to sing The Fives' praises because we had an outstanding experience. I typically walk away from a trip reflecting on what to do different for next time. I wouldn't change a thing, and this hotel is the reason!

Wonderful holiday at The Fives! We are a family of 4 (2 daughters aged almost 17 and 13). We stayed from 24th of June until 8th of July this year. We had a 2-bedroomed suite which was spacious, well decorated, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Fridges in both rooms were stocked daily with plenty of bottled water, beer and soft drinks. Toiletries were also provided and restocked as required. The resort is very pretty, well laid out with immaculately tended gardens. We found the resort very easy to get around by foot but there are regular shuttle/golf buggies which you can also jump on. There is a great selection of restaurants to choose from. Our favourites were the Thai, Brasserie, Italian, Mexican and Lizards for lunch. Breakfast in the Flavours restaurant was also very good with lots to choose from. We were unable to make dinner reservations at the restaurants on the package that we had. We made the decision at the start of the holiday to go to dinner earlyish (6 pm usually) and had no issues/did not have to wait. This was preferential to us than having to use the buzzers. The themed evenings were excellent, very well run and enjoyable. We loved the silent discos held in the Plaza on Saturday nights. Definitely bring mosquito spray as even with this, we ended up with bites. You can buy this is the resort shop, but it was quite expensive. Staff at The Fives are wonderful and what will really make your holiday. Everyone that we came across was super-friendly and helpful. A special mention to the following people, who we felt went the extra mile for us: Gigi (Head of Food & Beveridge) David (Resort Sommelier) Armenta & Merado (waiters in the Italian restaurant) Raul Luzcano (Plaza Bar) Martin (Lizards) Anayeli (our maid) Raul (Animation at the High Energy pool) Hurricane Beryl hit the resort in the early hours of 5th July. The staff were truly amazing. They were calm, professional, made suitable preparations and the communication throughout was excellent. We were given food packages for our rooms during the time that we had to stay inside. We were called to check if we needed refrigeration for any medicines (they were obviously thinking about potential power loss). When we were allowed out of our rooms the following morning, staff were serving breakfast with a smile while others worked tirelessly to tidy up the mess and by the evening, you would hardly know anything had happened. We were very lucky to see the spider monkeys on 3 occasions! We also saw coatis, racoons, lizards and a stick insect. All in all, a fantastic and memorable holiday at the Fives!
