Amazing Location and Rooms. Be ready to sign for drinks and meals. Lock your credit card as soon as you get home. We went for a wedding with a large group. Here's the great: The friends and family- The wedding- The wedding venue- The rooms- The pools- The location- Clean and well maintained- 99% of the staff The not so great: Several people in our group have experienced fraudulent charges on the credit cards we used at the resort. One person had a charge of several thousand dollars at a different Mexican resort. I noticed several small charges on my card over the last two months that I almost didn't catch. The only time we used these cards was to pay for Mahekal expenses. Another downside was receiving an invoice after ordering drinks or food. Despite signing up for the all-inclusive package, we still received a bill showing what the cost would have been, along with an option to add extra gratuity. It wasn't that bad, but it got a little old waiting for the bill.

Fabulous stay at Mahekal Just returned from a week-long stay at the beautiful Mahekal Beach Resort. Our family of 3 enjoyed our time so much, and we look forward to returning in the near future! The property hit all our checkboxes in terms of location, beach, accommodations and food. Rooms were clean and well-maintained and cleaning staff were quick to respond to any requests we had. The beach near Fuego was beautiful and comfy loungers were always to be found at any of the beaches and pools. We opted for the all inclusive plan, and very much enjoyed the variety of options at their breakfast buffet at Las Olas - coffee was fantastic. Also lots of delicious menu items and drink items at Fuego Reataurant and Itzi pool bar - we enjoyed every bite and sip!! For occasions when we wanted to venture off-site, staff were extremely helpful in suggesting options and providing tips. Special shout-outs to Manuel, Enrique, Guillermo, Salvador, Victor and Braian who were extremely kind, attentive and helpful at all times - they all made us feel so welcome and well looked after! We very much appreciated the kind send-off on our last day - you all made it such a memorable trip! - Chris, Natasha and Chiara

Look Elsewhere if You Want to be Comfortable I was at Mahekal in July for my daughter's wedding and I'm sorry to say that while we hoped for a magical experience, it became a HOT, hellish nightmare because the hotel only has AC in the guestrooms. Every public space is under open-air "palapas" with limited fans circulating the extremely hot, humid air. The humidity was unbearable and everyone was soaking wet after just a few minutes of being in restaurants, bars - and everywhere. Limited lighting along the dark, outdoor jungle walkways connecting rooms to public spaces were treacherous at night. The beach is very small and is sadly open to swarms of public visitors. Beach parties at night - from that public - often turn into "raves," the noise of which reverberates in the nearby rooms into the wee hours of the night. The rooms with thatched palapa roofs are also very hard to cool so be sure NOT to book one of those...and book a room far from the beach in order to have peace and quiet. There are no TVs in the rooms, something that added to the disappointment and the staff at the front desk is awful. They couldn't provide two keys for two guests in the same room and told us to "come back tomorrow around noon to see if we can give you another key." Room requests, which had been clearly outlined before we arrived were also ignored. All in all, I do not recommend this "resort" because of all of the above. You're much better off going some place where you may not find the "charm" of palapa living, but you will be assured of modern-day amenities and cool air, which is so necessary to survival in the heat and humidity of summer.

Amazing place for the price The spa staff was amazing. We had the best massage service. The staff at the hotel overall was aces. The food was so so but that is expected at all inclusive. The views were spectacular. We really enjoyed our stay here. If you want affordable but good service I highly recommend this resort ❤️
