Ring stollen My proposal ring was stolen from my carry-on while staying at your hotel. Despite always keeping my luggage with me, except in my room, the ring was missing after only three days. I chose not to use the hotel's small vault to avoid my fiancée seeing the ring beforehand. On October 12th, I removed the black proposal box from the white cardboard case (similar to most jewelry boxes) and planned to propose. When I opened the box, the ring was gone. This was a devastating discovery, robbing me of a cherished moment. While I generally avoid negative reviews, this experience has left me deeply disappointed. I believe your hotel needs to take more precautions to ensure the safety of guests' belongings.

Such a wonderful stay at a reasonably priced resort Returned this week from 9 days at this hotel. Location feels safe, within gated community. The walk from the hotel down to the beach is just beautiful, the beach is gorgeous, soft sand (no issue with seaweed must have been cleared up) can always get a sunbed by the beach. Staff at water sports hub are fantastic, take advantage of free kayaks, paddle boards and catamaran... we enjoyed these immensely! Option to do pottery painting at additinal cost, this was great for a peaceful afternoon activity, the guy spruces up your painting after if you like and made.mine look amazing! Room is decorated nicely and is what we needed, id suggest a deep clean of light switches and shampoo/soap dispeners etc as they looked grubby. Staff work tirelessly, all day and night, cleaning, maintaining, dancing, making drinks etc. Never had any issues with unfriendly staff, though i did witness rude hotel guests so they put up with alot!! Animation team hotel song got suck in our heads and we enjoyed watching the dance! All inclusive drinks were fine for us, kids loved mocktails and choc milk, we enjoyed beers, wine and i tried many cocktails! Coffee from the bar near reception is the best, (id suggest taking it over to breakfast as it tastes much better!!) Food in buffet was varied and plentiful, husband enjoyed it, sometimes struggled to find the kids something. Desserts were fab!! Xul Ha restaurant was a wonderful experience, mexican, peaceful , mocktails and frozen margs! Order.from menu and quality was spot on. Defo recommended and no need to book in Azteca. Overall a fantastic holiday, spent so muxh time by beach and pool barely needed anything. However, its 40 mins to Xel-Ha which is a good day out. Or if you need snacks , wal-Mart is a 10 min taxi ride!

Would not go back! This is a great hotel if you like getting up at 6am to put a towel on a sunbed and if you enjoy waiting in line to get drinks from a rude bartender. I stayed there for a week with my daughter. The hotel is in a lovely location, the beach is absolutely amazing! The buffet restaurant is very good, we loved the salad bar and the Mexican night! Unfortunately, my daughter got told off twice for putting toast with cheese on in the toaster- even though she doesn't eat cheese, but the food was good. The room was okay but we arrived to a clogged toilet. The cleaning lady quickly fixed that. The room smelled very bad of mold and we asked if they would please fix that - I did this 3 times during that week, the first time on the day of our arrival. When I mentioned it at check-out they said I should have mentioned it sooner so they could have fixed the issue... The room has a mini fridge with three sodas that does not get restocked. The hotel does not seem to want to serve drinks even though it is all inclusive. I managed to get 2 beers and three drinks at the bar that week. We did not see any of the entertainment at night because there were hardly any seats. It was a total waste of money...! Although I did get an amazing cup of cafe latte at the bar one morning (I wish I would have known that sooner)! Thankfully, I had booked our second week at the Riu Playacar - talk about a 5 star experience! They don't allow people to reserve beach chairs, there is a lovely buffet restaurant and 4 a la carte restaurants (no extra charge!), a fully stocked minibar in the room, no lines at the bar, service with a smile and they even serve drinks on the beach! Next time we will stay the entire time at Riu!

A great holiday, but with a couple of small improvements could have been an amazing holiday. This was our third visit to Mexico, but our first visit to a resort other than Cancun. We had a really good holiday, but a few small things being improved would have made it an amazing holiday. The evening entertainment team were incredibly talented and put on some great shows in the theatre, but they repeated weekly so if you watched every night you seen them twice in a fortnight. I got to know the daytime entertainment team by going to find where they played games, but they sometimes didn't go round the pool to ask for participants, so sometimes i missed the chance to take part. Food is always a really personal thing, i think they could have provided more plain options. Lots of times food was in sauces etc which didn't suit everyone. Snack bar at pool provided easy snacks and only issue was they didn't have any ice-cream. Bar staff were great and quickly new our orders and they worked incredibly hard. Downside as someone who doesn't drink was they ran out of Heineken 0.0 on 4 occasions, and this was the only non-alocholic option other than soft drinks. Room was really good, but we didn't have a table and chair on the balcony which was disappointing. Maids cleaned the room everyday and left towel art on the bed most days which was a nice touch. Hotel also provided a complimentary catamaran trip which lasted 30 mins and was great. Biggest issues were the wi-fi and the lobby bar. The wi-fi in the room was non-existent, the one place where you really wanted it. The lobby bar was incredibly warm at night and the ceiling fans just didn't do very much unless you were directly underneath it. Need to either add bigger and better fans or somehow put air-conditioning in. Also there is a members-area for bar service and beach sunloungers. We didn't join in and to be honest it never impacted our enjoyment. The number of small issues means we probably wouldn't come back. A solid 7 out of 10 on most things, but for what we paid it should have been 9 or 10 out of 10.
