Needs updating The John Carver sorely needs maintenance. The rooms and hallways show a lot of wear and tear. The beds were okay, but not great for a hotel. There was no good place to put your suitcase in our room -- no suitcase stand. The only mirror was in the bathroom; usually hotels have one in the main room too.

Disappointed We expected a New England "Inn", but found instead what I would describe as an over-priced motel. Pros: CJ's Bar & Grill has an excellent breakfast menu. NB: CJ's is run by an independent operator, not the hotel. Cons: At check-in, the desk clerk spoke broken english so bad that I had to ask her to repeat everything; Carver King room - no safe, no water, "tired" mattress, hanging space in closet was around 6 inches with three hangars, it has no charm and no character (with the exception of CJ's).

Great choice for families. I read some reviews that really made me question if I should keep my reservation. I have to say everything was fine. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. Our room had a coffee maker and mini fridge. No Kurig though if you were looking for that. The staff was beyond helpful. I called in the morning to see if we could get early check in but was told they were fully booked for school vacation. We got there just before 3 and our room was ready. The pool is really nice, however the water was very cold. I think I heard someone say the heater had broken. I would go again. Perfect location and great for families.

New in 2024: Ice cold pool water I have stayed here with my family many times before. It’s a quick affordable getaway that we have always enjoyed. However they apparently aren’t heating the pool water anymore. We were in for about five minutes today. Freezing! The kids hated it. You’ve lost a loyal customer.
