AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! If I could give this hotel a minus 10, I certainly would. We booked a room for one night at the recommendation of a friend whose husband needs treatment at OHSU as I do. When we first walked in, we were met with a bad odor that is difficult to describe. A musty smell with a hint of urine. I asked what this smell was and no response. I looked up and saw the shadow of insects in the domed lighting. We would have left right then but my surgery was scheduled for the morning and we couldn't try and explore the crazy streets looking for another. It was already afternoon. When we arrived at our room, the scent in there wasn't great either. The TV didn't work and a maintenance man was called. The bathroom door frame had spots that looked like urine and? I cleaned it off. The chair and rugs were dirty and I wasn't sure what to find in our beds. There was one disgusting throw pillow on top of our pillows. The light by our bed was dead. Ugh! Luckily, my procedure was early morning so we only had to inhabit the room for 6 hours. I was even accused of stealing a bottle of water in the lobby by one of two guys at the desk when my husband and I came in with our own! He backed away very quickly on that one, but how horrible to have to deal with that! When we left, I complained to the security guard and he just laughed and said I might have liked it ten years ago but now they do "whatever the hell they want". Be prepared to pay more than you thought also. Parking is $13 dollars a night. All in all, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

Good budget accommodation Stayed 5 nights as first time visitors to Portland. Felt very comfortable in this area (we walked everywhere in the city and glad we weren’t staying in Chinatown for example-sadly, the homeless problem is still here and we found the drug taking in daylight a bit frightening ). We got the Max trains very easily from the airport and used them to get to Washington Park. There are bars, food carts and restaurants close by as well as a Safeway. The hotel itself is dated but for the price, our room was clean, quiet, spacious and cosy (it was cold when we visited). The microwave and fridge were a bonus as was the free coffee in the reception area. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and chocolate cookies-a nice touch. The Wi-Fi was very good too. The free included breakfast was a bit mixed-fresh cut fruit on one day and then not again. A bit limited with healthy choices and not always bananas. Very nice omelettes one day. Overall, for the price we paid, it was a good cheap option and we would stay here again if we returned.

Best deal in Portland Clean, modern, good hot breakfast. Good pricing. This is the place to stay if you have business on pill hill. Having to hang out while assorted family have surgeries at OHSU or the VA Hospital, it’s a short drive. They have standard rooms and comfort rooms. I think the extra few dollars means the comfort rooms have newer furniture and decor. I suspect this was a Red Lion in the 70’s. In season there is a pool and a pool bar. The restaurant is open for dinner. The parking is not free, but if you pay for it at the same time you make the reservation, it’s a few dollars off. Here’s a cheese quesadilla I got to snack on in the room.

Only if everything else is booked Not great. The welcome was terse and read from a script with no opportunity to interact and ask questions. The room was quite possibly the noisiest I’ve ever stayed in, with both the air con and the freeway behind drowning out all human thought. Hard bed and miniature pillows. I was tempted to continue the journey and give this place a miss, but we had come a long way. The room was clean. But don’t get me started on the included breakfast which was inedible.

Toilet flush broke down multiple times Toilet flush broke down multiple times throughout our stay, and the maintenance staff was not even always available. Staff was very rude and manager unavailable when we requested a room change, and we had to keep calling and request maintenance ad odd times during the entire stay.
