Beautiful Hotel and very clean and well kept but the service let it down Beautiful Building and very well kept with loads of character, spotlessly clean with beautiful gardens. The only think that let it down was the service, this may have been due to a film crew staying there at the same time as us but we had to search out staff to order drinks, our room on the second day was not serviced until late afternoon and when we asked when it was going to be done we were told they were doing the new arrival rooms first. I asked for a dinner menu at around 4.15pm and was not there was not one available and although the food at dinner was lovely there was a long wait for anyone to take our drinks order at the table. The breakfast was very disappointing on the second day. Our friends had to leave early and went down for breakfast at 7.30am which was the time indicated that breakfast started only to be told it was a buffet on that day and nothing would be ready until 8.00am so just had to do with toast, when we went down for breakfast at 8.30 the hot buffet was only just warm and not enjoyable at all. As a note to other guests do not book into room 11 as this overlooks the conservatory area where they have flashing lights that stayed on all night because there was an issue with the timer but there is also no black curtains which you would expect if the room was effected by the lights as this is also a wedding venue so I would imagine they are utilised regularly.

So near and yet so far This could have so easily been a 5 star review. The setting of the hotel, the grandeur and the gardens are beautiful. The hotel is clean and the rooms quirky - nice beds , fluffy towels and a great view. What spoiled it for us were a few incidents that were managed poorly. We returned back to the hotel to enjoy tea and a cake or two - the rooms had not been serviced and we were told rather brusquely that they tended to rooms for new arrivals first. Which was understandable, but the attitude was not great. For balance they did service the rooms as requested , but there was no need of the fuss in the first instance, the perception was poor. Dinner was great but the breakfast in the 2nd morning I would have expected better from a holiday inn express. The bread for the toast was appalling, the tables not set, the “hot option” was not hot and was of a poor quality. The first morning breakfast was good, the second I thought I was in a different hotel __‍♂️. This is not a “cheap” hotel - if you want to change top dollar fair enough - but don’t short change your guests because they don’t come back, which is a shame as the hotel in itself is full of character and possibilities.

Very difficult to the our stay! Mixed thoughts about our stay and needs to be split into three parts, location, hotel and staffing. Fortunately we booked with an offer otherwise we would not have stayed given the normal prices. The hotel is an amazing location and the rooms are large and there are plenty of public places to sit around and look out at the views. However, what the hotel lacks is any atmosphere. I’m not a fan of piped music but it felt like we were on a “silent retreat” as there was no background noise and the few guests that were there, spoke in hushed whispers. For a hotel to charge high prices things need to be spot on. There were multiple niggly issues. The tables in the dining room are low and not rotated correctly so you can’t get your knees under due to a cross bar. In our bathroom in room 5 the H and C were missing from the taps. No fridge in the room so you need to ask for fresh milk. The tv is too small for the room. The hotel is frayed on the edges and needs a bit of TLC. On Sunday morning before we went out we tidied up our bed - Simone did go into our room but the bed wasn’t touched and the towels we left hanging on the back of the door weren’t folded or put back in their place. There were very few hangers in the wardrobe and none you could hang trousers from. As a result I didn’t unpack but my other half half did. Although staff did their best it’s quite clear they are under staffed which impacts on service. Breakfast was a la carte on Saturday, buffet on Sunday and a la carte on Monday. We had to wait a while for the buffet to be replenished as when we went down at 8.30am there was very little left. However the buffet was nothing more than you’d get in a full English. The fruit options were the same each day and there was some Camembert and that was it. There was one choice of yoghurt. We had an evening meal on the Sunday which was very good-three courses for £50. Our bill at checkout was wrong as we were charged for a full bottle of wine instead of a glass which was immediately corrected. In most hotels you’d expect a reception desk by or near the door, to welcome you. There is a table at one end of a corridor. I think it’s there so the staff can multi task between the bar, dining room and reception. Overall if the hotel is to survive it needs a reset - for example it was not clear to us who the manager or person in charge was.

Great Hotel Dreadful Catering Experience 60th Birthday treat stay. Let me start by saying the hotel is amazing, location is so peaceful and relaxing. Housekeeping great. My room was amazing. Food. Where do I start. We were informed that we couldn't have dinner there at all, as they were busy?. Offered to eat earliet, later but they literally said no. Told us there were plenty of places to eat within a drive away. That is so wrong. So disappointed as we purposely booked the hotel to enjoy their fins dining experience as well as the great location, and they genuinely didn't care and weren't interested. Very negative. Breakfast was dreadful, awful. What food there was, and you had to wait for it. Fruit consisted of grapes or watermelon. The bread for the toast was still frozen. This IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL, and it does not deserve 3 AA rosettes. No way whatsoever. Describes itself as a luxury hotel and fine dining experience. NO IT IS NOT. I can't fault the hotel and location. The catering is dreadful And Desperately requires fixing. The attitude of the staff could be a lot better for a 4 star not hotel. Desperately short of staff and it shows, that's down to poor planning and management. Im sorry but thats a fact.Where's your business continuity plan, if you are short of staff, you need one. That is no excuse for poor or zero catering, to deny a paying guest access to the restaurant after they have driven 5 hours to get there on their birthday is unforgivable. Zero empathy, you just didnt care and weren't in the slightest bit interested. You are not cheap, very expensive, provide the service we are paying for. I would only consider going back if things massively improve, only because the hotel itself is so nice. If you intend to stay, pack plenty of sandwiches. The £150 we spent at Foyles restaurant was worth every penny, and is literally your loss. I'm giving 2 stars because the hotel was do nice, my birthday was ruined, but definitely put a dampers on the day, otherwise you would have had 1 star.

Amazing, outstanding, fantastic Words can’t describe how amazing our experience has been. In 2023, we decided Llangoed hall would be our chosen wedding venue, and we knew when we first met Abbie and Jeremy they were the people we instantly trusted to give us the most perfect day. They did not disappoint. From the visits to the venue, to tastings, and anything we needed the team were outstanding. You will not find a better team of people, the venue is beautiful, it’s such a wonderful place to be. We are so thankful to Abbie, Jeremy and the team for giving us the absolute best day/night ever. We cannot wait to come back at Christmas time and throughout the year. Thank you so much to the absolute best team of people, the most amazing venue. Everything was perfect and I cannot express how amazing this place is. For any occasion, lunch or even a place to stay, you will not go wrong. Thank you all so much, we will see you soon _
