Beautiful property but a lot is closed Terranea is in a beautiful location and the property is a true oceanside resort. It was a great weekend respite but travelers looking for a place to enjoy during the week should reconsider. Several of the restaurants are closed during the week and ones that are supposed to be open can be closed for private events. The spa and lap pool are also closed midweek, as is the adult pool.

5 start Resort, 1 star service, 3 star amenities Very underwhelming experience l. The proximity to outdoor amenities was nice but these amenities (hikes, beaches, etc) are also available to the public and mostly free. You’re paying for convenience of access at a resort whose highlight is the beauty of the lobby.

Absolutely, and utterly disappointed. Don't get ripped off! My family and I have been coming to Terranea for years. It used to be the type of five-star resort that you would expect a five star resort to be. We really used to love it here. However, it is no longer the case. The service you would expect from a five star resort is gone. There is no more poolside service; you have to stand in line to get food, drinks, and pick up whatever you order. Sometimes, the wait would be over 20 minutes. The menu at every restaurant is limited. The gym closes early at 3pm. Sea Beans, the small little snack and goodie store on the property used to be open early and close late. Now it opens late and closes early, and there is a much smaller and limited selection. The staff is very often melancholy in their demeanor, and they just seem to go through the motions without caring. I could go on and on, but it only makes me more upset. When I complained about this, I heard the same old story that they do not have enough staff. Frankly, this is a cop-out. As a business owner myself, and having been to many other five-star resorts recently extending from Santa Barbara down to San Diego, Terranea is the only five-star resort who keeps using this sorry excuse. All of the other five-star resorts all say they also have the same problem, but they managed to work through it in order to provide the necessary five-star experience. Terranea is simply taking advantage of the pandemic in order to take as much money they can from guests (they have not lower their prices), and trying to get away with it by not providing the necessary five-star service that used to be at this resort. It honestly breaks my heart that I have to write such a review. But I urge you not to come to this resort because if you do, you will be paying a lot of money and not get the services you deserve.

Great views, beautiful property, poorly run hotel. For the price you pay you should go somewhere else...1.5 hour check-in, lacking amenities, unmanned phones, understaffed property. This is far from a 5-star experience. You be better off going to the Ritz, the Montage any of the Auberge properties for a true 5-star experience. Food choices at the pools is limited. The few employees that did offer assistance here and there were very nice.

Worst stay ever Not enough staff to accommodate all the guest. Horrible customer service. There for a beautiful wedding (which it was) Rest of the time at the “resort” did not even come close to meeting any expectations.
