You won't be disappointed. First time visiting Big cedar lodge and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff is extremely friendly as are the people staying at the grounds. The grounds are constantly being manicured and appeared in good conditions overall. Nothing negative to say about our visit and hope to one day be back. Also the shuttle service is top notch, kudos to them.

Disappointing Although there is more to do than ever it’s just not what it used to be. The grounds are not nearly as manicured as they used to be. The staff is not nearly as knowledgeable or friendly as years past. Example: the go-cart track is now only open a half a day because according to staff members and I quote “we they don’t have enough staff to open it”. I could go on but no need to pile on at this point. Very disappointing trip for ourselves, kids and grandkids.

Doesn't live up to the hype or its potential. I'm a long time fan of Bass Pro and Cabellas, etc. And many years, ago, my spouse had a convention near the lodge and she spoke about how nice it was. My family and I stayed at one of the cabins on the property. The five of us were in a one BR with a loft. We tried to find a larger cabin, but there were none in the time we were looking. The cabin was small. The main BR was large with an adjoining bathroom. Unfortunately, the wall between the shower and sinks, and the bedroom didn't go to the ceiling so whenever you showered, all that hot air rose and then settled in the bedroom. The main living area was pretty small. Room enough for one couch. They also put a Queen bed in the main living area, so right as you walk in door--BOOM--there's a bed. Suffice it to say, this bed had zero privacy. And finally, there is a loft. Again, no real walls, but at least it's upstairs. The kitchen is really only large enough for one, but it's functional. There are some things to do on the property--a couple of pools, a lazy river, the big Fun Zone area with bowling, carts, etc. We tried all of it and it was OK. The lazy river was, but it does get very crowded. We also went to the main pool area behind Truman's (a coffee/soda shop). There is a large family area and pool and smaller adults only pool where you can order drinks. That area was great except for the nonstop 70s music they piped in. Which brings me to a point: this place has a decidedly "older" vibe. Granted, there were plenty of Senior Citizen there, but there were also plenty of Gen-Xers there. This place clearly does not cater to us, or anyone younger than us. That's going to be a HUGE problem in about 5-10 years when they're still playing 70s music to people in their 40s and 50s. I think what I was most disappointed in was the landscaping. There were some nice common areas, but the "off to the side" areas, such as the walking path, looked like it hadn't seen a weedeater or some topsoil in decades. Even the flower bed the infinity pool overlooks is so overgrown with weeds that you can't even see the lake and surrounding mountains. We did a few off-site excursions, such as golfing at Buffalo Ridge, which was great. We also did the ATV/Golf cart ride-tour of the cave. The carts go 7mph and unless you stop a lot, you'll be done in 30 minutes or less. Also, the cave is mostly man-made, as are many of the "waterfalls" you see around the property. They're pretty, but the rock is clearly concrete and the water pumped back to the top for effect. I will say the trolley/bus program is great. Other than the morning we were golfing and it was an hour before we could get picked up, we were able to get a ride in most cases in just a few minutes. Summary: Big Cedar Lodge does not live up to its potential, or billing. It feels "old" and caters to an older crowd. It also lacks signage, making it difficult to find anything, particularly when you're on foot walking the paths. It does offer a plethora of "things to do" but most of them are off property and the quality will vary.

Great resort with lots of activities and room options. A wilderness get-away with all the advantages of a 5 star resort Beautiful resort with lots of different room options and activities. Lodging includes access to a myriad of activities including multiple pools, hot tubs, kayaking, canoes and miniature golf. We stayed in Springview Lodge. Room was very nice with a log cabin style feel. The room was near the lodge pool but was still quiet and sleep was excellent. Shower only, no tub, but that was fine for our purposes. Very convenient location with free shuttle service throughout the expansive resort. We never waited more than maybe 5 minutes for a shuttle to arrive. Shuttles are arranged via the resort's app.
