Wonderful location & views We chose the Hotel Forum for it's unrivalled location and the garden terrace for breakfast. It's a charming hotel and the service is fair. Rooms are on the more traditional side and are small but were also clean and functional. Air conditioning, as some others mention, isn't the most efficient but with the windows closed it was plenty to keep the room a comfortable temperature at night. We did have some issues with the water and communication wasn't great but once this was raised with the front desk the supply was reinstated for us to shower before the works took place. If you're booking specifically for the rooftop bar, it's worth enquiring in advance as we found they book out with functions. However, a credit to the team, on both occasions we tried to visit for a drink they were busy with events but recommended an alternative time to return.

An appalling customer service experience We made an online booking for a meal at the rooftop restaurant in the Hotel Forum. On arrival at the hotel we asked the receptionist if we could have a pre-dinner drink and were told that we could and were directed to the rooftop bar. Here, the bartender, a man entirely devoid of charm, bluntly advised us that there was a private function taking place and nothing could be done to help us. We returned to the reception desk, apprised the receptionist of the situation and asked if we could have a drink in the downstairs bar. Despite the bar appearing to be well-stocked, the receptionist, clearly a graduate of the Basil Fawlty school of customer service, advised that it did not serve alcohol. Exasperated, we decided to cut our losses and go elsewhere. We strongly advise giving this establishment a wide berth.

Amazing location. Significantly overpriced Stayed here for 3 nights/2 day at the end of our honeymoon and we left disappointed. The price was the main issue. It was €475 a night with breakfast. Crazy expensive for a basic small and dated room. Realistically, it’s a 2/3 star hotel and you pay for the location only. We wanted to book somewhere more expensive and central as it was our honeymoon but honestly, we just got ripped off. Pros: Location - right on the Forum. Walking distance to everywhere. The view from the balcony at breakfast is nice. Clean and polite - would be a given, I suppose. Arranged a taxi to the airport. Cons: Price - Sadly price is the biggest issue. €475 for a small room with en-suite. The photos on the website were not our room. It was smaller and dated. Breakfast - had read good reviews but it is very basic. We stopped going and ate elsewhere instead. 4-star - nothing I could see that makes this 4 stars. I googled the definitions and 4 is considered luxury. From what I read it is closer to 2 star. Which would have been fine if we’d known and paid prices. Roof top bar price - went for a look and the novelty. Again, great view but when the price was €12 for a glass of beer we decided against a second. Room Door - minor one here and to be clear, the hotel was not noisy or the corridor and we were the last room on the hall. However, when there was noise; people talking, walking or just cleaning staff doing their job, we heard it all. I got up the first morning fearing I’d left the door wide open. It’s very minor but probably a sign of the old hotel. I honestly struggle to give a bad review but the price is outrageous for location alone. If it had been between €200-300 a night I probably wouldn’t have written a review at all.

Perfectly located We loved our stay at Hotel Forum. We drove down from Florence and navigating to the hotel to park was much easier than anticipated. Staff was professional, respond quickly, and took great care of us. The hotel is perfectly located for anyone staying in Rome for the first time. It’s walkable to almost all the major sites. We loved it! We thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop breakfast and the view from our room. In the evening, we could open the windows and listen to live music being played on the streets below. Also, the beds are so comfortable!

Wonderful Rome hotel We loved this hotel. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a really traditional feel to it and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I stayed in Room 202 which had wonderful views. It is really well located within walking distance of the Colosseum with plenty of local restaurants. A drink in the roof top bar is a must!
