Not Worth The Money My Wife and I decided to visit our daughter in Cardiff. We thought it would be a good idea to break the trip with an over night stay at the Chase in Rhos-on-Wye. On arrival the Chase looked very nice and impressive as we drove up to it. But things changed soon after. We where given our room key and off we went up two flights of stairs then along to our room,Opened the door and thought this is not worth the £109 we paid, Travel lodges give you a bigger and more comfortable room. First thing we noticed was the TV was on a low cupboard where you made your tea or coffee so not much room to put the tray etc on to make your drinks, plus when you where in bed you could not see the TV. Next was the wardrobe, when you opened the door it caught on the main entrance door return spring so you had to lean the cupboard to open the door to get your cloths in, Then we noticed only one set of towels in the bathroom, not good for a double room, so had to go to reception to ask for another set. We decided to have dinner there before climbing the stairs back to our room. This was very nice and tasty no complaints there. When we got back to our room the towels where on the bed. Then came another but, stains on one towel, another trip to reception. The excuse we got was that the old dirty towel was on the shelf where the clean ones where and was picked up by mistake. Who puts dirty towels on shelves ?
Next morning breakfast was good and well cooked but thats the only thing good about the Chase was the food was ok Would have had a much nicer room at the travel lodge at a better price as well. So I think we will not be stopping at the Chase again.

Shame it's closing Just spent 2 nights at the Chase Hotel. On leaving we heard that it's due to close next month, what a shame as we would have definitely returned in the future.
The plus points:
Convenient location for the town centre
Plenty of car parking available
Breakfast cooked to order
Nice surroundings
Friendly staff
The only downside our room was a bit tired round the edges but knowing what we know now perhaps no surprise.
The hotel was busy over the course of our stay sad therefore that it will soon be no more.

Awful hotel Overnight stay that can be best described as preferable to sleeping outside...just. ‘Superior’ room consisted of tiny bed and tired decoration. Breakfast inedible. Nice staff but we were locked out of hotel with no warning at 10pm. Had to wake up the poor receptionist as night porter not in. Then locked into hotel and couldn’t leave. Discussed superior room with uninterested receptionist who insisted this lack lustre room was indeed superior- website very misleading. Overall, would not let dog stay there.

Two night stay Decided on staying at The Chase as recommended by friends. We were not disappointed...... staff outstanding friendly and helpful, food excellent and very reasonably priced, rooms good, but hot, due to the ambient temperature. Apparently it is to close and be turned into flats.... a great shame!
